I have been under contract for 3 years! i been working with IBM. Last year in June they extended my contract as a Long-Term Supplemental..which was just one year! but expires this June 10, 2006. I don't want it to be extended though..i want them to give me the perm position and not to worry about nothing! i have been stressing these past few weeks. I have been looking for other job positions but is not as great as this ..but at least i have been given other opportunities to take..which means there will always be jobs there for me in case .. I just want to be as a Perm employee so i can start getting benefits and such...and can actually move up and work witihn the company in other dept in the IT dept. I dunnoooo wha tto do.. and plus..working from home is great..i get to spend quaility time with the girlfriend.....save 100 on TTC ...and time travel...and very convenient..i just dont' like to be under CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME!
You have it good as it is. Don't complain. Just keep it up with the contracts because when they're ready to hire you full time, they will. You have no idea how many people in your industry are actually being let go. Or maybe you do. Just enjoy the IBM ride. It's not a bad one. And if you want benefits, try the blue cross or something like that. Pay's not bad at IBM and working from home must be nice. I'd say let them extend your contract.

Why are you stressing? Just state, that since you've been under contract for 3 freakin' years, you'd like to be hired as a perm employee. Is that going to cause a problem?

Yes !!!!! i'm actually in the office and i havn't seen my co-workers for almost a month!!!!!!!!!! Feels weird seeing everyone..... I came today because it was jeans days and because i need to talk to my manager! I need a perm job!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i want it now! if not then i'll just leave this job and get myself a new job...we will see..let you all know what happens! My contract actually ends in June 10, 2006. I"m 100% they wont' let me go but i want a raise and i want a perm position!!!! i hate being on contract....!!! whats ur suggestion? what should i say to manager? mmm.. Any suggestions would ge great>!!! Gracias!
If they hire you from your contract, doesn't that mean that you'll become permanent? How long have you been under contract for?
