Check out their web site www.favelarising.com I need to buy this documentary !!!! If I may say so myself... I did say that it looked good I know, you really missed something We couldn't stay for Barrio Cuba because this one was so fulfilling that it would have impacted us as much and we probably would have been desapointed, even if I am sure it was a really good documentary as well.   Ohhh, and did I mention the music, wowwwww, the music is amazing, a complete mix of reggae, rap, samba/salsa, batucada, rock...... balsting. BTW, all the money they are making out of all this goes straight into their association/foundation to take the kids out of the dark side of the Favela's life and give them hope and tools for a better future. Did you knew that there are more than 600 Favelas in Rio ? When they started the shootage of the Doc. they were aprox 150 "druglords" just in their Favela (30k pple) and now they are barely 25. What an amazing job ! And all that whitout violance. the message is pass through education, music and making the pple responsible.... Note to self (cc Buffy) : find the Documentary and the CD

Yes heard some of the music in the trailer, sounds wicked!! very good!

And yes, I knew a bit about the Favelas, thats why I thought it would be a good documentary to watch, sad, but it truly is another world in there

B.U.T.Ting it

The festival is taking of !

Will it be

How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer @ 9pm on Friday 21st

How the Garcia Girls Spent Their SummerFirst time Latin director Georgina Garcia Riedel's comedy How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer stars Lucy Gallardo, Elizabeth Peña, and America Ferrara as three generations of Mexican American women in a family during one hot summer in the small border town of Somerton, Arizona.

Riedel weaves her three plot strands together with ease so each actor reflects and plays off the others. Seldom has sexual desire by women found its way to the screen with such poignancy and power. However, the tenderness with which Riedel shows the sometimes comical or sometimes emotional inner lives of the Garcia girls is all the more refreshing at a time when cinema seemingly can explore every side to sexuality except that of love.

Or

Barrio Cuba @ 10.30pm on Friday 21st

Barrio CubaIn this touching story, director Humberto Solás invites audiences into the Havana he knows best — one that few tourists will ever see.

Against a backdrop of crumbling buildings and rickety structures that result from 40 years of U.S. embargo, Barrio Cuba shares the complex stories of seven courageous people whose lives are woven by a mosaic of events and emotions.

I READ THE INFO ON THE LINK ABOUT ANDY'S MOVIE AND I FOUND THIS LAST "PLUG IN" UNNECESSARY....
