Adoption??

Honestly I will have to say that I truly admire those people who do it.  I don't know if I could.  It is a huge responsibility and an act of love.

Boooooo!!!!

Very true man.

Would that "fact" also apply to marrying outside your race and the children that come from that union?
I HATE these TV shows and reports that overanalyze relatively simple matter and try to find something negative in something that is nothing but positive, just to fill air time
Besides, if most of the parents that give up children for adoption are black and hispanics, chances of matching up ALL parents with children of the same race are pretty slim, no?
The worst part is that it comes from, supposedly, "experts" and that it's on TV, so people think "it must be true" ..... Boooooo!!!!

Though question i guess, but honestly if one day I adopt a child, it will be regardless his/her color/background and will asap let him/her knows they are adopted. For a start

If not white, I will definitively work more on the fact that it doesn't matter and do not interfer or change the love I have towards him/her. I will also involved/enrolled myself and my child into activities and groups related to his/her "race" (grrr, I hate that world) community thing to make sure most of the bases are covered and hopefully avoid any insecurity and desorder in the futur.

But I think as well, that if there is enough love, support and comprehension at home, all those points highleted above in your thread will be mostly inexistant and irrelevant because the child will be well balance.

Adopted children from the same "race"/etnic group as their adoptive parents face theexact same problem anyway. BTW, you can not study those things so I think it's really up to every parents and/or adoptive parents.

ETA (cc Lahtina) I personally know a family that only have 1 biologic child (from the mother side) and 5 adopted children, all beautyful, full of joy, live and soooooo much loved. No no. not all "white". 1 is from Senegal, 1 from China, 1 from Mexico, 1 from ex USSR (can't remember thee country) and 1 from Germany (Country of residence). Let me tell you, parents are amazing, you can just feel the love all over in this family

A child in need is a child in need.....does not matter where they are from or where the parents adopting are from.

I was watching Dateline a few weeks ago and they had a special on parents who adopt kids of another race. They mentioned how blacks and latinos are the number 1 and 2 races that give up children for adoption. Blacks lead by a large margin.

I wouldn't rule it out but I think latino would be my preference.
