LOS PERICOS otra vez en Toronto?

In 1986 LOS PERICOS, a group of friends who used to get together to play the music they liked, became the first REGGAE band in Argentina.

In 1988 they launch their first record, “LOS PERICOS”. Their sales reached an edition of 180 thousand units, and made it the best sold album of the year, obtaining the Triple Platinum Award.

Already in 1989 they recorded KING KONG, produced by Herber Vianna (PARALAMAS DO SUCESSO). Immediately they launch the Maxi ANFITREU a vinyl disc that makes impacts because of its style.

In 1990 LOS PERICOS launch their third studio record RAB A DAB STAIL. As from now, they presented several live concerts around Argentina, highlighting the two shows at the LUNA PARK stadium in Buenos Aires.

In 1993, they lunch their 4th album BIG YUYO. In it, LOS PERICOS, show a sound with own identity reflected in the music with songs like, ME LATE, WAITIN, HACE LO QUE QUIERAS, etc. The high repercussion shown in Latin America was a clear sample of it.

That same year LOS PERICOS were invited to participate of the 6th. INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL REGGAE SUNSPLASH edition, organized every year in JAMAICA.

In 1994, they go back to the INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL REGGAE SUNSPLASH. They close the WORLD BEAT NIGHT. There, Rita Marley invites them to the TUFF GONG RECORDS studios, where BOB MARLEY used to record.

In July LOS PERICOS return to the United States for their 5th Record, PAMPAS REGGAE. Shortly after they go on tour through the USA: MIAMI, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO & BOSTON.

With the launch of PAMPAS REGGAE, the tours through Latin America and the sales of their records started to grow and rise.

For then, their sales reached more than one million copies in the whole world.

At this point they launch their 6th work YERBABUENA, which was edited simultaneously in all LATIN AMERICA, the UNITED STATE and SPAIN.

During March, LOS PERICOS together with STEWART COPPELAND recorded the song DARKNESS, with which they participated as the only Latin band invited, for the album REGGAE TRIBUTE TO THE POLICE.

On the 28 of December 1997, they celebrated their 10 years anniversary with a free live outdoor concert for more than 120.000 people. That was supported by the GOBIERNO DE LA CIUDAD THE BUENOS AIRES.

The year 1998 starts with a couple of shows through Central America and specials in Venezuela, with a live concert at MARGARITA ISLAND for 140.000 people and CARACAS where they play at the FESTIVAL EXPERIENCIA ROJA, for 180.000 people, their record audience.

By mid July they started with their next record at their own studio, ROBLEDO SOUND MACHINE. Once more they travelled to Caracas, but this time to the celebration for the 50 years anniversary of the UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHTS DECLARATION (at La Carlota Airport), organised by AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL.

On 27 of November 1998, they present MYSTIC LOVE and film the video of their first cut SIN CADENAS.

The presentation of MYSTIC LOVE was on AUGUST 31st and September 1st at the OPERA THEATRE, with an absolute SOLD OUT for both dates, and not being able to add another date as the theatre had no availability.

In November that year they started the 5th Mystic Love Tour through the cities of NEW JERSEY, QUEENS, MANHATTAN and MONTREAL. This is the first time that an Argentinean band shows at this Canadian City, and obtained stunning reviews at TORONTO where they presented a very hot show ( although the cold temperature).

At the beginning of the year 2000 LOS PERICOS give a show at RIVER PLATE STADIUM celebrating THE NEW MILENIUM for 75.000 people.

LOS PERICOS start to mix the record 1000 VIVOS as a tribute to the 1008 shows the group had presented until that moment.

During the year 2001 they continued with their shows all through the continent and are invited to close this year’s VIVE LATINO edition.

In 2004, the Argentinean band with 17 year of successful path, surprises again: this time changing their vocal scheme.

With the departure of their previous vocalist, LOS PERICOS change their vocal scheme, leaving aside the figure of the unique singer. Today Los Pericos has Juanchi Baleiron in charge of vocals for most of the songs; together with Horacio Avendaño and Gaston Goncalves with whom he alternates the vocals leadership in some songs.

With a complete fresh approach, stimulated by the beginning of a new stage of change and challenge, they present a live show whit a more compact scheme, reinforcing their reggae-rock format.

More than two million records sold and 1200 live shows, established LOS PERICOS as one of the MOST IMPORTANT BANDS in the history of REGGAE/ROCK LATINO.

In august 2005 the band has released its new album named "7" and its touring through Latin America.
