Ya 8pm and 9pm seems more like it to me even if they are not is school/day care or whatever.
I remember years ago reading about how kids that stay up later learn slower.
They take much longer to talk because their minds are tired. Don't know if it's true, but I'll be putting my kids to sleep early when I'm a parent mainly for sanity.

They learn what we teach them.

I agree. Junk food and pops appeared in our house when we were 11 and only because my aunt and uncle traveled trhough the US for a little while. Before that it was all water, natural juice and hot chocolate. Burgers, pffff, first try @ 14, I should have never tried it

I don't think kids should be out of bed after 10:00, even if they're not going to school yet. It's really important to establish a routine and give them structure from day one, plus you need to teach them to be responsible and even for health reasons it's good to go to bed early. So I'd say 10:00 should be the absolute latest.

YES....FOR KIDS NOW IN DAYS.

8 pm is a good time and lights of @ 9 pm so it give the kid an hour either to read or his parents to read him some sotry or even to play a bit. Well, it was like that for me and I think it's a good time for the kids if we want them to pay attention and to be alert the next day at school

I AGREE...IT WAS LIKE THAT FOR ME TOO.....

@ PARENTS WHO THINK IT WILL ALL CHANGE ONCE SCHOOL STARTS.....GOOD LUCK!!  YOU WILL HAVE ONE RESTLESS, ANGRY CHILD TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE YOU WILL BE RESTRICTING HER/HIM OF EXTRA PLAY TIME THEY HAVE HAD ALL ALONG....."DISCIPLINE HAS TO COME FROM AN EARLY AGE"

MY FRIENDS THOUGHT THE SAME THING....AND NOW THAT HER KID GOES TO SCHOOL....SHE CAN'T ATTEND IN THE MORNINGS, SO THEY ONLY TAKE HER IN THE AFTERNOONS....THEY TRIED EVERYTHING AND THE KID WOULD NOT WAKE UP IN THE AM.

Those kids don't wanna fall a sleep because of that clown that sits in their rocking chair and wink at them.  That's why.
