I'll check the website and I'll let you know...
BTW... don't forget to take the demo to the sushi place on Monday...

LadyBug, you nerd! I'll be watching the Junos on Sunday for sure. And I'm glad Diego was filming this event. He's very good at featuring non-mainstream good talented acts. But like you said, for most of these events, the audience tends to be non-Latin. My hope is that one day we, the latin community, will be open enough in our musical tastes to enjoy a wide range of musical genres. There is so much talent out there, but we tend to concentrate on the two or three rhythms that are most popular.
See that's where you're wrong.....
There's only ONE popular rhythm.....
EL RIGATONI
And yeah, Diego was there with the entire crew and then some.....he really needs to cut that hair....it doesn't suit him!
@ Buffy....can't you pick a fight with hubby so you can come out to these things more often.....

I loved the 2 slow songs he sang just with his guitar.....his voice sounded so clear and had that Diego Torres touch......
But Julie I know that you couldn't take your eyes off of his AFRO everytime he got hyper.....LOL
The guy had all eyes on him for the entire time....now THAT'S a true performer!!!
@ Ricky & Baina....you guys missed a show that you would have both been still talking about....(BTW...Chendy's dad recorded the whole thing...try to get a copy)
Any musician would have loooved last night's show.....

Wowww, the performance was great. The band was just, what can I say, I enjoyed every minutes.
It was Jazzy with a touch of Hendrix, Brazilian rythms, entre otras cosas and that Mic. LOL
And regardless the fact that most of the audience was mostly no latino, pple responded well and really had a good time. Even the Harley guy was dancing with his girl, well trying to make her dance.
Even the Mojito had a special touch that night

What a performance last night!!! He was so entertaining to watch.....it was like watching the CUBAN Led Zepellin.....lol
The Alex Cuba Band celebrated their Juno Award nomination for best World Music Recording with a special showcase performance at Lula Lounge last night.
Everyone who is anyone in the Canadian Music scene was there (Latin and Non).....and the band featured some of the top musicians from here, including Eliana Cuevas singing coro with him.....Chendy Leon on drums and his father was a special feature.....since he's like a second dad to Alexis.....
For a Tuesday night LULA was FULL! (including dinner reservations)
And Much More Music was there (Cliptrip) recording bits of this party.....
This group is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and song-writer Alexis Puentes, who first rose to prominence in Canada as one half (with twin brother Adonis) of The Puentes Brothers, nominated for a Juno award in 2001 for their highly successful album, 'Morumba Cubana'.
The Alex Cuba Band CD is called 'Humo de Tabaco' is the sound of traditional Cuban music featuring an original blend of mambo, bolero, trova and son.
Overall it was one of those nice evenings to just sit and enjoy a show that started and finished on time......
The sad part (I think ) is that out of all people that were there.....only about 25 were Latin or better yet CUBAN......being a Tuesday night should not have been an excuse to miss this event in my opinion.....it was a 2 hour show.....and done by 11pm.....and I did NOT see any Latin Media Reps except for "Caņasanta" who hosted the show with Billy Bryans.....
I hope he wins the JUNO this Sunday, April 2nd!!!
