My car's engine light is also on most times.  My car is older and it's not worth spending much money on sensors.  It drives fine, the problems is ussually related to sensors and wiring, you could take your car for a computerized inspection where they hook up your car's computer with a electronic device which usually finds a defective sensor.  One could check some Chrysler sensor by following codes which were compared with a list of coded sensors/ defects.

Don't worry too much about it.  My brother's 2 years old montana had the same problem, He went to the mechanic and after a few days the light was on again.  Well, he decided not to do anything about it and got another lease on another van anyways.

yea all is it does is reset the computer . sometimes the light doesn t come back on .. and not ,i bought the car and it had all this inside the hood . the guy who had it before me install a lot of performance stuff in it ( so i m not even sure of all the things the car has ) ...too bad a i bought it at a dealer so i can t even ask the guy who had it before what kind of stuff he put in it .... I know i m gonn ahave to take it to the mechanic sooner or later , but i just wanted to see if it was something obvious that make the light come on .. (like the gas cap , or tire pressure )

Well, I'm not sure the previous owner would be happy that you call him, LOL , BUT..... if you reeeeeally want to find out who the previous owner is, just go to the ministry and buy a sellers package (I'm not sure if thats what its called) and all the previous owners info is in there, not their phone #, but I think their names and addresses are there. You might be able to do a "reverse look up" on a nets phone book and find out the phone #
I think the package is only like 20 bucks... ya I know, it's a pain in the balls, but hey..!

yea i checked the gas cap . it s weird though if i disconnect the baterry the light stays off for a few days .

I'm no mechanic, but if you disconnect the batterie all it does (I think) is reset it, it will just light up again when the computer reads trouble again
BTW, did you just install all this aftermarket stuff recently?... 'cause you might need an after market sensor, 'cause now the air intake is not stock anymore, right?
As I said, I'm no mechanic, just going on common sense here

It's usually the oxigen sensor, and sometimes, in the newer cars, it could be as simple as a faulty or not tightened enough gas cap

AMIGO, I HAVE A CIVIC TOO.  DON'T BOTHER TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP.  IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE TO BEGIN WITH (MUERTOS DE HAMBRE...CHILTEROS).  JUST TAKE IT TO ANY OTHER MECHANIC AND GET IT LOOKED AT.  I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT WAS JUST THAT THE SENSOR WAS TOO SENSITIVE.  PERO ME COSTO MUCHO MENOS.  GO BOY AND TAKE IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC.

Not really unless your scared of fires or possible explosions.
