The renting thing is the best option you have so far. Can you imagine loosing 4 hours minimum every day ? It is not worth it.

I found this link. Don't know if it will help you but

Bistro, I know some people in that area. I'll ask if anyone can rent you a room, but first I'll need to see a police record. Chu no, you can never trust "internet" people nowadays.

Seriously, though, you could sublet a room for a month. Or you can put an add in the paper to carpool with somebody. There's a lot of people who work in that area. I think subletting is a better idea, or a short term rental.

Contact the Universities and Colleges in the area and rent a dorm room or they can guide you to a "live in" home ...whatever that's called...

Casino Tours might also help....

Hotel = $80 per night times 30 days = 2,400

Rental of an appartment or basement for 1 month in THOSE areas is about $400-600 monthly...

Car rental for a month, gas, insurance...etc   $1,000 max

Find a girfriend in those cities....OR make a friend!

Good Luck!

SO U RATHER SPEND 4 HRS GOING BACK AND FORTH INSTED OF JUST STAYING THERE?? I'm not prepared to spend 100 bucks a night at a hotel, no. If it were longer, I would look for a room, but 1 month is very little time to rent anything. To my knowledge, anyways... I'm open to suggestions.

I realize it might not be the best place to stay, but if it's only for a month.. motels have pretty reasonable monthly rates
Specially if you're already looking at spending around $40 a day in travel alone... not to mention the daily waste of 4 hours

Renting a car is an option, though I'd rather avoid it... four hours a day driving isn't a thought that appeals to me. At least I can sleep on the bus.

HOW AOBUT THE TRAIN???

VIA doesn't seem to have any service to the area. At any rate, I would guess they're more expensive than greyhound, which is my benchmark so far. Fourty-two bucks a day is a bit steep though. We'll see how I do it.

GO only goes up to Guelph, and I'm not having much success with google and the yellowpages... I think I'll have to wander down chinatown tomorrow.
