I don't really know who votes and how the grammys are won... does anyone? I know, I could look it up, but no.
Yes I do, I actually looked it up today.
The Recording Academy has about 20,000 "voting members". These members are in the music industry, and they are producers, vocalists, recording engineers, etc.
They can nominate anybody, and vote too. There are some restrictions on voting though. Each voter cannot vote on more than 8 (our of the 32) categories, and the votes have to be in their field of expertise.
To become a voting member, you must hold one of the previously mentioned titles, and have at least 6 commericially released pieces of (musical) work in the states.

I can't agree. I think she just doesn't have much credibility. First of all because she's young. Second cuz she's a girl and thirdly because she's a pop tart and finally because she's a slut. LOL jks I mean because of her dirrty image but the girl got a standing ovation by many. Anyway, I only said I thought she was better than Mariah.

I meant that nobody takes these American Idol and such shows seriously, and yet, she beat out amazing competition. In any case, I don't really know who votes and how the grammys are won... does anyone? I know, I could look it up, but no.

Oh, that's a tough one, Bainaruskis. I really like Michael Buble, especially considering he's canadian. I'd say I like him more. I liked Harry Connick Jr., but I wasn't a huge fan. In fact, I like him better as an actor. Buble, on the other hand, had my vote since I saw him singing that Spiderman song. I just loooove his music. And that song Home just kills me. I love it.
We did his version of "The Way You Look Tonight" for the wedding show.......I like that song a lot.
He's shows are sold out everywhere. I tried to get tickets for the show he had in Niagara Falls....I had no luck!!!
I'm hoping to catch him in Vegas!

I went to bed at 10, so I missed the show from 10 on, plus I was also watching a movie, flipping back and forth. I didn't really like anything I saw... Yeah, Mariah, great voice, blah, blah, blah; Paul bores me (did so since that Super Bowl performance last year); all the other predictable singers did as well; happy that Kelly Clarkson beat the establishment. The only thing I liked out of the whole thing was Keith Urban, and I'm not even into country music. He was passionate. I remember Chris from Coldplay being passionate also, but now he just looks crazy. I think he should stick to looking crazy playing the piano. At least then he looks artistic crazy, now he just looks nuts. That's what I remember. Did Michael Buble perform? Now, that I would've liked to see.

loved seeing herbie hancock get featured a bit... most of the mainstream has no idea how much he's contributed to music
sly stone did look visibly uncomfortable... he hadn't played in front of an audience that large in 19 years.. bit of a recluse that guy, i was surprised to even see him walk onstage!
kanye is a bit of an ass, but he's definitely made his mark on hiphop and r&b (for the better i think) and deserves the respect he got
Daeveed wrote: Paul looked a bit uncomfortable singing without holding an instrument.
I thought he looked like that because he was just looking at the Linkin Park guy and thinking to himself..."can you please harmonize IN TUNE??? PLEASE!!!"

AND.....It looked like she dropped a bucket of paint on her face!!! The Jay Z performance was pretty cool. I was wondering why he had a John Lenon shirt on......and then it made sense when Paul came out.....but the singer from Linkin Park......SUCKS!!!!!! LOL
Yeah, I like Jay-Zed's performances. I didn't like the Linking Park guy either, and i thought Paul looked a bit uncomfortable singing without holding an instrument.
Really Chilenita???? I'm not a Kanye fan.....but I thought the performance they put one was pretty hype. Like it got the crowd going. It took me a second to realize that that was Jamie Foxx with him.......Jamie is amazing! Like I said in an earlier post....a true natural and raw talent. If you're refering his looking like a clown....because if the suit he had on.....well....yeah! That was pretty clownish....but the performance I thought was good.
First off I am with you on the Jamie Fox thing...he is an AMAZING actor and he has some serious musical talent.
I hated the performance though...last year Kanye performed Jesus Walks and I think it was the grammys too and I liked it but this year I thought it was just straight up silly. Didn't like the marching band thing.....didn't like it at all. I was starting to like him as an artist but he is now becoming annoying to me again.

Buffy I am with you on the Greenday thing...I think their album was a decent one that actually had something to say. U2...I like them but not with Mary J cuz I stopped liking her like 4 albums ago Mariah I thought didn't sound as good as I have heard her sound. Christina.....great singer but I wasn't feeling the song BRUCE Springsteen.....what a hot piece of ASS....I want to marry him I am sure I will think of more....

Well, I though his was the best of the night. First with that insanely trippy piano!!!! and then he grabs the bass and they play Heltah Skeltah!! (the Beatles song, not the rap group), and they made it sound AWESOME!
I think Kanye West is becoming more and more a parody of himself. the guy now just looks like a clown.
Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkson can all sing very well, but I hate their music.
Herbie Hancock was really good!
U2 was...ahi no mas....I didn't like the Mary J. Blige feature.
Bruce Springsteen's performance was powerful and solid.
Jay-Zed's performance was good, elegant as usual.
I didn't like Coldplay's performance.
Madonnas' performance, as expected, was very solid and euro.
Now about the Sly and the Family Stone thing....I thought it turned out to be a great fiasco. When he came out, I don't think he was enjoing it at all, in fact I don't think he could take wearing that wig and clothes, and that's why he just left the stage before even finishing the song. The rest of the artists just stood there finishing the song.
And a final comment. I thought this year's ceremony had a lot of mistakes and mishaps, and I thought it was poorly organized. Things like when U2 won an award, they sterted playing "We Belong Together" by Mariah Carey, or the dude that was introducing Herbie and Christina forgot Christina's name and just stood there smiling after saying "and now, Herbie Hancock and........"
I only got to watch Christina's and Mariah's performances. They both did great! Beautiful voices!! And i think Mariah Carey looked great!! Her dress was nice!
I agree, I think she looks sooooooooo much better then before ... I mean she's beutiful and all but come on she needed to show less and leave more for the guy's imagination ... but that is just my opinion

What are you talking about? I love that record... it's the best thing out there right now! Yay, Greenday!
And I can't believe little Miss American Idol Kelly Clarkson won a couple of grammys... considering her competition, that's un-friggin'-believable! Good for her!
