Oh I see. Thanks LadyBug!
I still wouldn't feel right calling someone a pendejo, even if it is meant as a compliment, because I would still feel like I was calling them an idiot, moron...lol
A word of advise to those who use it as a compliment never say pendejo to a Central American if you don't want to get cussed off like there's no tomorrow...lol There are some that don't know it is a good thing in other places.
Wow, but imagine saying it to a kid ... It sounds wrong to me Pendejo (a) to me meant stupid, moron, idiot, tonto ... and etc ... Well no, we don't say it TO kids, we use it when we talk about kids/youngsters: "es un pedejito"Or if someone is being real immature we say "que pendejo" Me entendes, kid? LOL
Ohhhhh, I was going to say pero que malo el DOGO ...

en peru pendejo significa varias cosas.. it could mean pendejo as nino , chico , chibolo (youngster) and it could al mean if you said , q pendejo eres , its like saying que vivo eres .. nad si un peruano te llama pendejo no es un insulto .. its used more para llamar a alguien vivo , sabido , q se las sabe todas entiendes
We were at a club, I had just danced with a girl and I was coming on a bit strong on her. Got back to my spot and buddy goes:
Que pendejo eres!
Man, I got so pissed! I don't know the guy that well. Our mutual friend, also a Nica, tried to intervene but he also ended up giving the guy crap for calling me that. What's wrong with calling my friend a pendejo..blah, blah..Then we thought the guy had changed his story when he said he meant it in a "friendly way".
From the Guide to Cuban Slang: Pendejo (sust.) a) Alguien miedoso, sin valor, "Fulanito es un pendejo" b) Vello pubico, "Ay, como duele que te halen un pendejo" c) Carlos Vive.
I'VE ALSO HEARD THIS "ESO 4 PENDEJOS KE TIENES EN LA CARA...."
I think its one of those words that is unfortunately way overused as a common form of expression. I don't know about others but I find there is a lack of class when people overuse it.

I wonder if the same person who called him pendejo told him that it was not always offensive in Peru. I think I'm going to start using that argument with my non-nica friends.
Which is why I made that clarification up there. It's totally different in Cuba. And which is why I dared to include Carlos (whom I know not but I believe won't mind such a joke) in my "cuban jargon" list.
Yes I've heard many nicas and from other countries using pendejo in a much friendlier way than what a Cuban would.

Hold your horses now. I would NEVER use the word pendejo to refer to either my or my partnerīs pubic hair, at least not if I donīt intend to be plainly either gross or offensive.
For many people itīs not a nice word to use in your daily conversation. But it just slips in, I guess

like if your friend is un pendejo (in the "player" sense i guess) and you say to him: "que pendejo eres.." but you mean it with admiration... it could be a compliment
I don't mean to offend any one and please let me know if Im out of line with my question.I have an argument to settle. Is it true that to call someone PENDEJO in Peru is a compliment? If not, what the word mean in Peru?
Pick your weapon....
