I used to mosh pit a lot in my teens. In fact, I have friends who still do.....

That's my buddy Alexis. He's the vocalist of my old Metal band Pro-Hate.

Moshing is dangerous!
i swear you can crack your head open if no one catches you.

I remember i went to an edge fest concert, and i was right by the rails (front) and i was being crushed!! needless to say the people moshing were being tossed to the front, left to fall on CONCRETE! they were lucky there were 3 or 4 body guard looking men just catching all these people...insane!

But i'd do it again.

HOW TO MOSH PIT!!!

If you plan to mosh you should only wear what you don't mind getting wrecked. Band shirts are the excepted norm ,but wear what ever...

Shoes with hard tops to them are good as they stop your toes from being crushed too much. Laces should be tightly tied, if you loose your shoes in the mosh it's a nightmare tryig to find them.

You also want to dress in clothes that will let your skin breath. Moshing is a very physically intensvie activity .You get very sweaty and hot.

The diagram above shows the positioning of the mosh pit, it's the area with the higher desensities. This model however is based on a large concert, and at a smaller gig you might find that there isn't any or much peripheral moshing around the pit. Also the security wall may not exist at the smaller venue. I suggest that you progress you way to the pit at first, gradually introducing yourself to a more intense (and voilent) mosh.

Moshing comes in many forms.I will firstly examin the bodyslam . The bodyslam is done by launching yourself into the air by jumping ( so can be used in combination with pogoing easily ) and making physical contact with another mosher using the upper part of your body.

Another method is to shove and push people in the pit. Using you palms of your hands, remember of course that moshing is controlled agression and it's not the point to inflict harm deliberately on people. Then simply give them a gentle shove.

Its moshing etiquette to pick up someone whos fallen on the floor
