@ JADE....I DON'T THINK HE WAS ARABIC....BECUASE BACK THEN THAT WOULD HAVE MADE HIM A MUSLIM...LOL AND THAT'S A WHOOOOOOLE NEW THREAD!
That wouldn't have made him Muslim considering Islam was founded AFTER Christ died.
As for the Madonna video, there was a stink about that too. The whole video was a mess, her making out with the saint, the burning crosses and her acting provocatively in a church. Ppl complained... keep in mind, the things that are "acceptable" today were not so acceptable back then. That video was her "pushing the envelope".
Jesus was Hebrew. Jesus' whole family descendant were Jewish.
@ SWEETNESS WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT HE IS COMPARING HIS SUFFERINGS TO JESUS....OTHER PEOPLE BROUGHT UP THIS POINT BEFORE TOO AND I DON'T THAT'S WHAT HE'S DOING OR SAYING OR EXPRESSING....
By dressing up like Jesus when he was on the cross he is comparing himself to Jesus. Actions speak louder than words. Also when Jesus died on the cross he did that so that all of mankind could be saved and have a chance of getting into Heaven. The Jewish people were the chosen people meaning that only they would be the ones to get into Heaven, but since they didn't believe in him, and that he is the son of God the doors opened for the rest of the world. So that's why he died for us, and suffered for us, and I know that kanye would never sacrifice himself so that the rest of the world would be saved. Who has Kanye saved? No one. Who has he sacrificed his life for? No one? Plus he has never suffered the way that Jesus did. Kanye is just a rapper, and Jesus is the son of God, and no one should ever compare themselves to him because they are not worthy.
@ SWEETNESS WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT HE IS COMPARING HIS SUFFERINGS TO JESUS....OTHER PEOPLE BROUGHT UP THIS POINT BEFORE TOO AND I DON'T THAT'S WHAT HE'S DOING OR SAYING OR EXPRESSING....
Because he's portraying himself as Jesus with the crown of thorns........That was Jesus' most trying time.....where he suffered the most.

LOL okay okay NOT ARABIC cuz your rite thats another crazy thread...but I believe I meant MIDDLE EASTERN OR no maybe not or Jewish are they white?.lol.. oh man..I dunno ...He was Brown okay!!...
I'm really split on this one. Well for one in the Bible it does say that one should act the way that Jesus did...you know humble, kind, and so on, because of that the cover doesn't bother me as much, but on the other hand I do feel a bit ofended. I feel that way, because I really don't think that a human being should even try to compare their suffering to Jesus's suffering. As a Christian I feel that we are not equal to Jesus, therefore we shouldn't compare ourselves to him, because we will never live up to be the kind of person that he is. Oh and as for people getting mad, because he is trying to portray a black Jesus...well I don't really think that this is the case here, and personally I don't believe that Jesus was white when he was here on earth. I believe that he was more of a tan colour.

True true...I believe he was arabic..so to me He was brown..no one ever says that He was BROWN...its alwasy either BLACK OR WHITE...well is olive toned..brown? lol
Oh and don't forget that in one of her older music videos she made out with a black Jesus.
....LEON!
ISN'T WEIRD HOW BACK IN THE DAY....NOBODY SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT VIDEO....I GUESS CUZ THEY WERE MORE FOCUSED ON HER PERVERTED WAYS AND NASTY BOOK.....EITHER THAT, OR MAYBE IT WAS "OK" SINCE SHE IS WHITE, ITALIAN, CATHOLIC, AND A SUPER STAR....

see according to the legend, Jesus was a real person so his physical appereance is limited by his earthly body thus it is subject to debate. La Virgen de Guadalupe was an "apparition" of non physical form, which means she could have presented herself to Juan Diego in any way she wanted, including any skin tone. See.... just cause no creo el cuento no quiere decir q no me se la historia kids. ;)

My only problem is the fact that people find this acceptable. I don't see Richard Gere dressing up as the Dali Lama or Kareem Obdul Jabar dressing up as Mohammed or evenMadonna dressing up as a mystic kabblah rabbi (altho her and Guy Ritchie dressed up as the pope and a nun) but that only reinforces my point. Why is it ok for people to disrespect Christianity but heaven forbid they disrespect any other religion? All these things are sacriligious and are blasphemous. Kanye justifies this Rolling Stone cover by saying that he feels he struggled and suffered to get to where he is today. Fine yes.. you did but it is NOT COMPARABLE to Jesus' suffering. Gimme a break ppl... what he did and what other ppl do similar to this is wrong... whether its art or not.
Oh and don't forget that in one of her older music videos she made out with a black Jesus.
According to an amazing special on A & E this is what Jesus most likely looked like.
Does the picture in Popular Mechanics show the real face of Jesus? Israeli and British forensic anthropologists and computer programmers, using the techiques of forensic anthropology, produced this artists' conceptualization and is largely based on the work of Richard Neave, retired medical artist from the University of Manchester in England.
The researchers started with an Israeli skull dating back to the 1st century. They then used computer programs, clay, simulated skin and their knowledge about the Jewish people of the time to determine the shape of the face, and color of eyes and skin. The resulting figure has a broad peasant's face, dark olive skin, short curly hair and a prominent nose. He would have stood 5-foot-1-inch tall (155 cms.) and weighed about 110 pounds (50 kilos)
"Using archaeological and anatomical science rather than artistic interpretation makes this the most accurate likeness ever created," Jean Claude Gragard, producer of the BBC documentary "Son of God," told The London Times. Gragard used the same image last year in his series. "It isn't the face of Jesus, because we're not working with the skull of Jesus, but it is the departure point for considering what Jesus would have looked like," he added.

My opinion on Kanye is that he lis a decent musician who lacks personality. While he has a couple of good songs, I can't help but notice how some of his songs sound very similar. The comments he makes serve to inflate his marketing value. This particular cover will guarantee publicity and in the end he won't regret it one bit. While the picture is not evil, it borders on blasphemous depending on the sensitivity of the reader. I think more careful consideration should have been given by him and his publicists. By the way, does anyone know if the content in the magazine interview merits this cover photo?
Well said Quixote....and very good question!
If anyone has a chance to read it, let us know....

The Passion of the Christ was a movie chronicling the last hours of Jesus' life... the Rolling Stone Cover is Kanye trying to garner more attention.. there's a difference. I'm not dogging on Kanye specifically, it's just sad that we have become so desensitized to these images that it no longer bother us. YAY it sells more albums, YAY it brings in more ratings but there are ppl that still do think its wrong. TRUE....I WAS JUST TRYING TO SHOW WITH OTHER VALID EXAMPLES THAT WORSE THINGS HAVE AND DUE HAPPEN AND PEOPLE JUST NEED TO RELAX!
I ALSO DON'T LIKE TO SEE ALL THE SWEARING AND SHOOTING IN CHURCHES (IN MOVIES)....IT BOTHERS ME TOO....BUT THEN I CALM MYSELF DOWN THINKING THAT THIS WORLD IS FULL OF MORE HYPOCRATES IN REAL LIFE.
PASSION OF CHRIST MADE MONEY.....AND SO WILL KANYE.....
AND I REPEAT....IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY ANYTHING GOES...THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS, LIKE IT OR NOT....

I personally think this whole issue is being exagerrated. Anyone who listens to his album knows how much he believes in God/Jesus. How he feels blessed and so on. At no point has he said he doesn't need Jesus in his life or question his belief. If anything he has opened more peoples eyes to Jesus with "Jesus Walks" There will be haters and supporters but he's not verbally sending a bad message.
regarless that it's kayne dressed as jesus is that most find it offensive because in their sensitive mind he's protraying jesus as being black.
I don't think this is the case.
Have you ever heard of El Nazareno?
of course i have, but i wasn't saying us latinos, but other white people will think it as that. I'm not making it up, i know a few white who think blacks should stop making the big fuzz about how they were slaves, never had the same rights, and so on....and it bothers me. That's a stupid mentality to have.

I agree, that was my first thought bout his cover...not that he was dressed up as Jesus..but that he is protraying a BLACK JESUS..which is rarely seen or even never seen (I am not sure about that) in MAINSTREAM SOCIETY.

SOME WOMEN ON PLAYBOY HAD PEOPLE WITH THEIR JAWS ON THE FLOOR....
THERE ARE WORSE THINGS THAN KANYE POSING AS JESUS ON ROLLING STONE......LIKE SOMEONE DRESSING UP AS HITLER, OR OSAMA.....OR EVEN PUTTING SADDAM HUSSEIN ON THE COVER.....WHY WOULD ANYONE GIVE "HATED" PEOPLE SUCH EXPOSURE.....

So it's not ok to create and be controversial about RACE....but it's ok to do it with RELIGION????
There are WARS still going on today because of religion.......
He's not mocking religion. How many people use the budha, islamic symbology, asian you name it? really if that imagery of kayne dressed as jesus bothers you, then you're obviously won't be buying his stuff.
i have no problem with it. What is he trying to prove by being dresses as jesus? pppft! i don't know, it only reminds me of his jesus walks song. but it doesn't insult me the least bit.
