I would like to see the movie myself...like others posted...its outta pure curiosity...but hasnt there been other movies made about criminals and their crimes...Hillside strangler, chainsaw massacre..isnt that as bad? they too were horrible crimes...but I could understand why it would take more affect on us Canadians...since like Chale said..."it hits close to home"
THIS WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME THAT A REALISTIC CRIME RESULTS IN A MOVIE AND PEOPLE PAY TO GO WATCH IT......SO LET'S NOT PRETEND THAT IT'S SO HIDEOUS JUST BECAUSE IT HAS HIT SO CLOSE TO HOME.... PERSONALLY, I DON'T WATCH MOVIES LIKE THAT (REALISTIC OR NON).....AND IF THE SUBJECT WAS OF MY INTEREST, I WOULD ACTUALLY GO....BUT IT'S NOT..... ONE THING IS FOR SURE....OUT OF MAJOR RESPECT FOR THE VICTOMS' FAMILIES, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE MADE THIS MOVIE.....(BUT I GUESS THEY ARE GETTING A CUT TOO)
It's just too recent and it was too gory for them to make a movie. They don't give a Shit 'cause it's a canadian story. Had it been american (i.e. 9/11) they would've waited years and years to make it. I personally think it's extremely distasteful to make the movie now and at all, but the hype will definitely make more people watch it.

The movie Karla opens this Friday. Is anyone going to watch it? It's gonna be in just a few theatres due to the obvious subject. But I'm curious to watch it.Any of you watching it?
I can't watch those types of movies (real or not), I can't stand them. So, I won;t see Karla movie either. It's sad that they made that movie, but its not the first or the last horrible movie that is based on a true story.
I'll watch it, you know... curiousity killed the cat. I'm interested to see how they depict and portray not only Karla but everybody else involved.
Having said that, I will not go out of my way to watch it, that is, I will not pay money to do so. If I happend to catch it one day on the satetlite or may be a rental (one week plus, you know, the cheap one) and I got nothing else better to do, then I'll watch it.

I want to see this movie. I know that its really controversial based on fact that it hits really close to home. But I want to see just how they portray Hamolka. I want to see if she is going to be seen as the poor victim of Bernardo's heinous crimes, or a willing participant.

Those opposed to Karla — none of whom, it must be noted, have actually seen it — will probably succeed in blocking its screening at a Canadian film festival or at any of the nation’s cinemas. But in what is arguably the most potent irony of the controversy, they have now piqued everyone’s curiosity about this forbidden film, ensuring that — given Internet mail-order service and the popularity of the DVD format —Karla will almost certainly find a significant audience.
