Now if you really think that hitting/getting hit is NOT a possibility in the kind of situations we're talking about... and I'm afraid it is.

They are not the Hell's ANgel, all the contrary; this is a civilian group of vigilantesfounded in the U.S.  They wear a dark -red boina ( kind of che guevara hat) and they are supposed to figth crime by being on the streets helping people in distress and calling the police when necessary.

I still can't recall the name before Angels, ummm, they've been on T.V lately and they are trying to recruit people in Toronto in order to reduce crime.  I think they should first beat the hell out of Mike Harris first for not taking care of youth when he had the chance.

I agree with those who say "don't get involved". But I also think you should use your common sense and act with caution.

OMG!!! I'm glad you helped out the old man ... but yes I agree with you ... I guess in one way or another we help out with out thinking about it when needed ...

But then, if you don't do anything are you contributing to what is happening ... like something similar to if you know someone is going to steal something but don't say anything your an ACCOMPLICE

I think that is the KEY, if  it’s your FRIEND you almost have an obligation to protect him/her… but I think the smart way to do it would be NOT to get involved with the other party; but instead just to take your friend and leave that environment till both heads cool down and then they can discuss it more rationally OR start all over again!

As you said, it might not be my bizz, but still

  • You see a mother screaming at her child, and slapping them in a grocery store. Personally, I am strict with kids because this is the way I was raised, I can't stand "caprichos". BTW, strict does mean beating the child or being a psycholigical abuser. I know, I know, I am not a mother but yes, I know what to do and not what to do ! I loved my 3 girls (some knows what I mean) with all my heart and hated them sometimes as well but I took care of them as if there were mine (actually they were mine! since the actual mon was inexistant in the picture). So, since sometimes kids drive you nuts, and I think this word is not strong enough, there will be a reason behind this slapping but personally I would find another way to make him/her understand that his/her behaviour in inapropriate. Una nalgada, nunca le ha hecho daño a nadie !  But are you talking about beating, abuses ? Then yes, OMG, I will turn nuts if I see something like that, and I don't care if it is not of my bizz, I will go fwrd.

  • You see a couple arguing on the street and the women has fear written all over her and the man is like pushing and hitting her. You know, the famous "sexto sentido". I like to observe pple, so I am very "atenta" to what is going on in the street. So I would probably notice the scene from far away. Getting closer, if I might just hold on and get into a coffee shop or something and seak for help. I don't care what she has done or not, he shouldn't be laying his hands on her and vice versa (because it happens more than we think).

  • You're at a restaurant and you notice that the waitress that is serving you is being harrassed by a group at the next table. Unfortunatly, it is "part" of the job. Ithink that in this case, she should go to her mgr, but the scene will probably get my attention so if she doen't receive the support need, I will go and talk to him myself and see how the mgr will take the "complain" from a customer. I am a very nice person but I can be such a B......

You should have biotch slapped HER for continuing with him… LOL   On a serious note – I don’t know; but I would generally not get involved.  Perhaps if I saw it go extreme, as in: A parent beating a kid with a belt or stick too severely or a bf raising a hand at the woman, I would get into their business and just tell them to cool and relax, etc… Screaming matches? – Let’em have it… a little pat in the kids ass let the kid have it… I generally would just stay out of it.

LOL!! Well, I'm not sure what happened with her

But I agree, I guess if it gets to the extreme people may get involved ... but then again if you do get involved you can be the one to get in trouble

THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO A FRIEND OF MINE...

I WENT OVER TO HER PLACE CAUSE WE WERE GONNA HAVE AN ALL GIRLS NIGHT OUT... FOR SOME REASON HER AND HER BOYFRIEND STARTED ARGUING.... AT FIRST IT SEEMED LIKE A SMALL ARGUMENT UNTIL THEY STARTED STEPPING UP TO EACHOTHER AND INSULTING ONE ANOTHER.... I TRIED TO TELL THEM TO RELAX AND TRY TO TALK INSTEAD OF SCREAMING AT ONE ANOTHER.... BUT I WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED.... HE THEN STARTED PUSHING HER AND THAT'S WHERE I STEPPED IN....

PERHAPS IT WASN'T MY PLACE TO GET INVOLVED.... BUT I REALLY DIDN'T WANT HIM TO HIT HER....

I'm not sure what I would do to tell you the truth ... I think that if a situation involved a CHILD I would get involved just because they can't defend themselves ...

** But then again I remember one time a friend of mine and her boyfriend got into an ARGUMENT MATCH, and he was insulting her like crazy and she was in tears. And I stepped in to defend & protect her and he was like it's not your business stay out of this y yo nada que ver me quede con ella she told him to go and that she did not want to see him again. But then the next day she tells me you shouldn't have got involved ... I was like what  un poco mas y te pegaba caray and she was like I love him ... Never again, did I get involved ...

Hellooooooooooo ....  this morning on my way to work I saw a couple arguing what about no se no soy TAN CURIOSA ... but I could tell this man was EXTREMELY upset ... and all I did was mind my own business and continued to walk ....

Then I wondered, I hope this woman is ok ... and I remembered this show I watched that had certain situations where a person/child needed help but many people were INDIFFERENT to the situation ... Osea ya no existe un buen SAMARITANO nowadays???

    For example:

    • You see a mother screaming at her child, and slapping them in a grocery store.
    • You see a couple arguing on the street and the women has fear written all over her and the man is like pushing and hitting her.
    • You're at a restaurant and you notice that the waitress that is serving you is being harrassed by a group at the next table.

What would you do?? Do we just tend to say WHO CARES NONE OF MY BUSINESS!! Maybe that's it we all just decide to mind our own business and not get involved as we take into account the phrase:

AS LONG AS IT'S NOT IN MY BACKYARD, EVERYTHING IS a-okay ...
