Since Chale did NOT hear the whole newscast or convo on the radio, I think she is taking the term "BUYING YOUR VOTE" too literal. What I think they meant is that the political leaders are throwing out all these promises of free money (ie, Harper's plan to provide families w/ a child daycare money) is them essentially trying to buy your vote.
If you think back to High School or Elementary School, this was common there too, the candidates would offer free caff food once a week or even hand out candies after their speeches in order to "Buy Your Vote".
Again, I don't know what Chale was listening to this morning and neither does she but I could be wrong... maybe there are some crazy ppl out there "buying votes" but as DG said, there are strict guidelines that are followed while you vote.
EXACTLY! Cuz you know, the only way I decide who to vote for is based on the level of cuteness that the party leaders have. Yup! Only way to decide whats right for the country.
See, it would be really easy to say yes that you'll vote for a certain party on that person's behalf, but in reality for someone else. So there has to be a way to ensure that the appropriate vote is being cast.
Oh mang, I wish I would have tuned in early, now I'll never know
I mean ok let's say I'm the PARTY ... I buy Chale's vote ... she all smiley and nice says yes yes I will vote for you (gimme the money) ... I pay her and think (YES ONE MORE VOTE) ... On the day of the election Chale goes and votes for the cute guy in another PARTY ... I knock on her door the next day (as I cannot be with her on election day and stand beside her to make sure that she voted as she said she would) and ask "So, Ms. Chale Tanga did you vote for the EJEM PARTY and she say with a but of course!!!
Then close her door and says : FREE MONEY, AND I GOT CALL THAT CUTE GUY I VOTED FOR!!
** I mean I once worked at an election poll ... and there are strict rules ...
Anyone hear about this? I heard about it on my drive in this morning, but I only caught the last little bit. From what I heard, is that some people are selling their votes. Like you can actually buy a vote off of someone else and have them vote for the party that you want. Anyone know more info???
Jeez...I thought that kind of stuff only happened in third world countries. I've seen it happen in El Salvador, where parties pay really poor people to go vote for them, they even provide them with transportation and food....but in Canada?????????? That's crazy!
See thats the thing... I only heard that LAST little bit of the commentary... so I dont really know the whole story behind it or how it works.
But if I could make some money off of someone by 'selling' my vote, I'd so do it!
Anyone want my vote???
@AD: lol! Thanks girl! Pepe is kinda camera shy when it comes to normal pictures. And the ones that I do have, are not suitable for this PG rated forum I'll tell Pepe you like it
Is it for the vote???? Or for placing their advertisement on the lawn ... I mean I can sell my vote to any party ... how they gonna know WHO I actually voted for on ELECTION DAY?? The can't ... But maybe you gave me an idea ...
Dulce it is for the actual vote and not the ad.
As for buying vote ,this is a common practice, it is usually done very discretly.

I wouldn't do that. They could take the money and just not show up to vote.
