In pieces I mean I started taking them apart to restore them, and then I got married and didn't have the time or the money....... and now I just don't have the time or the money, lol! ......so now they're just sitting there rusting away......it's an expensive hobby if you want to rebuild one from the ground up but very cool cars and super reliable
Yes man they fix them here, there's even a few "air cooled vw clubs"..... there aren't many specialized people, but there are some.... the best place to go to find out who fixes them etc., is the shows
The nicest thing about the old beetles is that they are soooooo simple, they really are like giant lawn mowers....... any idiot can learn how to fix them or work on them............... I mean if I could, then any idiot can, LOL! (before angelita says it)

K, here......... these are the 2 biggest north american mags (there's some more euro ones, but....)
These two are mostly dedicated to the air cooled VW's (bug, microbus, karman ghia, etc) but they do have a lot of stuff on water cooled/late generation VW's as well and it's a good starting point if you're interested in the VW aftermarket
you should also check the anual VW canadian show, I lost track of where it's done now, but it used to be at canadian VW headquarters in scarborough, sometime in september (I think) wicked show!!!
