your buddy needs to be careful where he homestays, out of the few international students that I've met, a couple of them have complained mas que la chucha about the homeowners being cranky old hags with a hundred of cats living in the house and being complete biatches. I can only think of 1 good place owned by a friendly Mexican guy named Antonio, I forget his last name, he lives near St.Clair and Robina (between Dufferin-Bathurst) and has about 3 or 4 students living in his house usually.... I met him when we went to pick up one of my wife's friends over there. Other than that, he could also just rent a small apt. or basement and live on his own, try this site. http://www.viewit.ca I'll get back to you if i can find Antonio's contact info. good luck man

Why don't you guys check the George Brown Campus that's close to Casa Loma... either phone them, check the website or just visit one day to see what they have posted there. I'm sure there are a lot of places like that around that area. Isn't there also a U of T campus in the St. George area as well? You could check with them too.
Well, we did check with George Brown (I'm a stoner, but not dumb) they offer places for over $700.
When he came last year, he paid about $500. That's why I'm now trying other alternatives.
I might go to the campus and check those paper postings, abundant in campuses.

Don't know if they still do this but I was at York U for 2 years and there were alot of postings for homestays(host families) for students abroad. You may want to try calling the school that he'll be attending to see if they have any info on that.

Is there such thing as renting a room with food included? If there is, then that's it. If there isn't, then homestay. He's been here before, and stayed at a homestay, so he knows what it's all about.
true true
well, let me see what i can do for u, i have some hookups
how far is he willing to go? because where i'm at (woodbridge) there are lots of places for rent, i know to rent a unit about my size it's about $700 maybe the single bedroom is less. I can find out if you want.
