Now a days if you go out ANYWHERE, you run a risk. Take for example the Boxing Day shooting... the girl was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. Same way with going out not only to clubs, but anywhere... you could be a victim of a stray bullet or some lunatic out in the street (ex. the girl that was held hostage last year downtown by some strange gunman). Its not only the club scene that you have to be careful with, its anywhere really. @ Chile: Im PM'ing you right this moment!
This is soo true! It can happen anywhere and at anytime ... I feel for the 15 year old girl's family ... como dicen she was in the wrong place at the wrong time
I remember the shooting here at the Plaza Latina ... when that young single (I think) mother got shot the first time she decided to go out ... my mom freaked out and wanted to move
At Jane/Finch alot happens but it does everywhere else ... There was a shooting at Emery awhile back ... Hay no pero que cosas de la vida

I agree DANNY! There's shootings everywhere and just because it happened at Privilege, it doesn't mean that it's no 95% safe and i say that because one of my cousins who's name i will not mention, went to Privilege in November (with me) and guess what, her purse did not get checked! Acutally she just happened to walk by the security. She was all worried cause she had a bottle of liquor in her purse. But lucky her, she didn't get cought! The funny thing is, we starting thinking that this could have happened to anyone with a gun!! I just remembered that this happend, so i guess now i'm a bit confused whether to go there or not! I just hope they tighten up there security more!! I'm NOT saying don't go, cause no shooting or stabbing has ever occured at a Sabornuevo event. But also remember that one did happen at PLaza Flamingo and it was not a Sabornuevo event.
But seriously, shootings happen everywhere. If you live in the Jane and Finch area, you know what i mean. I used to live up there for over a year and i witnessed a few things. I forgot on how many times i called the cops when i heard someone getting beat up or a woman getting beat up by her boyfriend!! It's a crazy world, but i'm just glad i don't live in NY, cause my family that live there, say the crime rate is higher!! Damn, my family in El Salvador have gotten used to the crime there. My uncle had bodyguards for a few years cause he was a Coronel. Two of my aunts got jumped for their cars and got dropped off in the middle of no wear!! Anyways i think you'll know what i mean!!
F*** the thugs and all this BS, what are we going to do now? not go clubbing downtown just cause of all these shootings lately? big deal welcome to the real world people. Toronto is by far still a safer city, goto some american city or latin america..see how people still live it up there and enjoy themselves. Point is we cant let things like these stop us from having a good time.

That is life these things take place everywhere and it is only going to get worst. We have to accept the fact that TO is becoming more and more violent these days. Oh well I will keep enjoying the sun here in DR and I wish you all a happy new year.

I think these days...the way things are now...people will think twice about going Downtown...so just about everything in the downtown area will be affected.
I went to this club once and I have to say that it sucked......big time.... fortunately I was with fun ppl, otherwise I would have gone by 10PM Looks like fights and shootings are very common in this place, since we have to witness a fight that very same day...I dunno if it the music or what, but the place was full of "vatos locos"... I'm never going back to that place again...
I kind of thought the same of Que Chula Fridays to be honest and I tried this place one but I left after about half an hour....not my scene.
I just think that there was nothing wrong with annon's post to begin with. He/She was just sharing news on a club that many foro members go to.....nothing wrong with that.

Nobody was bashing them so I don't get why they feel the need to be defensive
I don't know.....One of those things I guess....

A 21-year-old Toronto man faces charges after shots were fired inside a packed club in the wee hours of Boxing Day morning.
No one was hit by the bullets, which flew at the Privilege nightclub on Peter St., near Richmond St., at about 12:30am Monday, but the incident forced the facility to be shut down while police investigated.
A suspect was nabbed a short time later following a short foot chase in the area.
Club security guards had ejected a man from the club earlier in the night, but he apparently returned with a friend. A scuffle ensued with other patrons before the gun was pulled.
Officers in the area heard the shots and rushed onto the scene, arresting a man exiting the bar.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered nearby.
Alex Madimenos faces several charges, including two counts of assault with a weapon.
