50 cent ain't the problem, he's just a scapegoat for the political idiots to point fingers at, just like marilyn manson was for the columbine shootings. Hunters and their gun licences arent the problem either.

THUGS are the problem!.. get rid of the young offenders act, make all accountable, and put every thug who uses a gun in the electric chair or lethal injection (their choice of course ) and thats the end of all of our problems.

I think I pointed out before the fact that there is a sick kind of gun glorification in certains groups of people, and several didn't agree. great post careguea! Actually, OUR GOVERNMENT needs to set crazy incarceration/execution penalties for any idiot stupid enough to be in possession of an illegal firearm... and thats it. As dumb and retarded as these low life, high school drop out thugs are, I really think they'll think twice next time they decide to have a gun if these penalties are in place.

Think if that 15yr old girl was your sister/cousin/daughter/friend...etc, dont u think that these thugs ought to get wiped out one way or the other??, they are slowly wiping away innocent bystanders, and thats not cool at all.

year-old victim of the Boxing Day shootings in Toronto was Grade 10 student Jane Creba, a best friend to her sister, protector of her younger brother and a caring soul, her parents said in a statement Wednesday.

Creba was gunned down early Monday evening during a shootout between two groups of young men on busy Yonge Street, which was packed with other innocent bystanders. Six others were injured.

An autopsy found "the cause of death to be a bullet wound to the body," Det.-Sgt. Savas Kyriacou told a news conference.

Creba was a star student and athlete and will be remembered as a loving and caring soul with a cheerful open heart, said a statement by the family.

"Our bright light tragically scattered into darkness," the statement reads. "Her life has been transformed into a shooting star that will be forever a light for her devoted parents, uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends."

Her parents Bruce and Virginia have two other children, Alison and Elliot.

Creba was also eulogized online by friends and classmates as a pretty, popular girl who will be greatly missed.

Her school, Riverdale Collegiate Institute, is still on Christmas break but word quickly began to spread among Creba's classmates, who were shocked to learn the girl they knew from school was the girl they had heard so much about on the news.

"(She) was the sweetest, most beautiful, and most talented person in (school), possibly that I've ever met," one person wrote in an online journal or blog.

"And then I read that line over. I realize that she was. She no longer is. Two days ago, (she) turned into was, not is, and that breaks my heart."

The scene of the crime was open to the public Wednesday and a makeshift memorial was growing with flowers outside the store where the shootings occurred.

Two other brazen shootings have taken place this year in the same Dundas Square area, which is popular with tourists but not usually known for violence.

On a Saturday night in late July, a man was fatally shot in a crowd of about 1,000 people despite a heavy police presence. And on a Sunday afternoon in April, three people - including two bystanders - were wounded after a gunman opened fire on another man on the same stretch of street where Monday's shootings occurred.

Of the 78 murders in Toronto this year, a record 52 were by gunfire. The city set a record for murders in 1991, with 88.

I am planning to go and do some shopping tonight between Spadina and Yonge and it freaks me out that I have to watch my back because of what might go out of control.

I refuse to live in fear and thanks God I am not paranoid, but F@@@@@@, gun shots and all this, just thinking that I might be in the wrong place at the wrong time, litlle this kid !

Seven people were shot Monday after two men sent a brazen hail of gunfire into a busy Boxing Day crowd in downtown Toronto.

In what appears to be the worst incident in a year plagued by gun violence, a teenaged girl shopping with her family died from a shot to her head.

The shootings happened about 5:15 p.m. near Yonge and Gould, in the heart of the downtown shopping district, sending many of the hundreds on the streets ducking for cover.

Two of the most seriously wounded were taken to nearby St. Michael's Hospital where they were reported in critical condition.

At least one other victim, a 15-year-old with a bullet wound in the leg, was taken by ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital.

The rest of the victims appeared to be in their teens or twenties, except for an off-duty police officer who did not need medical treatment. It was not certain whether his injuries were from gunfire.

It's not known at this point if the victims were targeted, or if some of the people were victims of random gunfire.

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair said two men who were standing on the street opened fire for reasons that were not immediately clear. He did not say if the two were shooting at each other or targetting people in the crowd.

However, some witnesses reported seeing men shooting from the open windows of a BMW.

Police arrested two male suspects, including one teenager, at the Castle Frank subway station. A firearm was seized at the scene.

Blair said police would be reviewing video surveillance tapes from cameras in the area to piece together what happened.

Emergency vehicles were crowded around the shooting scene, and three blocks of the street were cordoned off with yellow police tape.

The busy downtown area, popular with tourists and close to the Eaton Centre and Dundas Square, was also the site of two other shootings this year -- one in July, the other in April.

News of the shootings angered Mayor David Miller, who called it "a brazen act of senseless violence."

There have been 78 murders in Toronto this year, including a record 52 by gunfire.
