For me...it all depends on the person I'm shopping for....something they need, will like and will surprise them.....That's the best part!
But at the same time....I would never get something for someone ungrateful OR someone who does not appreciate your friendship.....Value Yourself! ....I just throw "whatever" their way.....
You should put thought into people that put thought into you.....once, twice, 3times of getting an unconsiderate person something is waaaaay too much!

@Julie & Baina.........I pretty much do the same....I try not to give myself a budget on how much to spend at Christmas because then I really limit myself on what I am going to give....I usually end up spending the most on a boyfriend or my parents.....I try to get practical gifts, things that people really need instead of just buying a gift for the sake of buying it.

I have way too many people to shop for, so I try to stay within budget, otherwise I'd be broke for the whole year. I guess the ones I spend the most on are my immediate family, but there are a lot of children in my family (nieces, nephews, etc.). I hardly ever buy anything for myself anyway. I'm always buying for other people!!!

it all depends on you pocket. this year i couldn't spend more than usual or more than i wish. but i got them nice presents and things i know they use everyday.
I think i spent the most on my son. I bought him so many things, I love making him happy. But besides my son, i bought my mom a beautiful and expensive watch. My mother deserves it!
I never go shopping with a set amount of $$$ for people. I tend to just walk around the mall.....and when I see something that is perfect for that person....I get it........I'll deal with the bills in the New Year.
Last night I bought a gift for a friend.......In retrospect.....I think I spent waaayyy too much money on this person...but it was the perfect gift for that person.
