The amurikans have been doing this kind of thing for a loooong looong time. The Grammies. Science people. Singers. Painters. Philosophers and historians. Clergy.

While I am not sure whether Cuba would stand serious chances to win the tournament -we usually play against amateur teams- I do know that by not allowing us to play they are succumbing to political hysteria and ignorance and taking away a lot of the quality it could have had should Cuba been allowed to play.
.
On the other hand, I would believe the americans want MORE cuban desertors coming their way. Aside from the political gain there´s to it, each cuban player who makes it to the tournament from is going to be a sure bet for the majors, should he want to!

Baina, u r a wishful thinker, eh? So... Dominican Republic beats Cuba? HA!!!

If Cuba competes.....it's a 16 team tournament.....I place Panama in the middle......but I'm hoping for a better result

Again.....very, very hard to pick an exact order......It also depends on the players that actually accept the invitation to participate. For example.......Alex Rodriguez.....the American League MVP last year.....had a very tough choice.......He had the choice to play for the U.S.A. or Dominican Republic........He decided to play for neither...and will not be participating......he said he didn't want to disrespect either nation.

Also.....

You got to take into consideration.....that even though Major League Baseball is allowing their players to participate....it is also not encouraging them either.......This tournament is happening very close to the begining of the Major League season....and there are many teams, if not all, that aren't thrilled about having their multi-million dollar players compete in a tournament where they risk being injured....

Puerto Rico has a great team as well.......Canada surprisingly has many Major Leaguers and could surprise a lot of people.

I think you got it right on Baina!  From what I have read and seen Cuba is AMAZING in baseball....what kind of WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC is this if the best in the world cannot participate!

Well......

They're still trying to get them in. The organizers are appealing that decision.

Cuba is one of the worlds best baseball nations.

It'd be disappointing if they weren't allowed to compete.

I guess the U.S. is worried about defectors.........I think they're just worried that Cuba will win the inaugural World Baseball Classic..........and "America's Game" will be America's no longer.

What do you think of Cuba being left out of the baseball world whatever it is...Baina you can help me out with the actual name of the world baseball whatever....


ANYWAY my point is that CUBA is being left out!!!  Is whatever team that wins truly world champs if Cuba is not allowed to play?
