I was so mad when I read that today. Hispanics are a major ethnic group in the U.S....the majority of signs or anything written is also in Spanish, so I don't know what was the big deal. I think they were just hating on the kid and his background....they should fire Jennifer Watts for talking like a red neck What's next....tortillas are not allowed to be eaten? SSSSSHHHHIIIIAAATTTTTTTT

I think as well he should have simply said "No problemo".  That way he could have just said he was quoting Bart Simpson.

.. Easily one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while..   First off, in Canada, we have two official languages, English and French, and this is specified in the Official Languages Act.  So here's a quick bit of trivia, what is the official language of the USA? It doesn't have one.  There is nothing in the constitution or any other federal document which states the national language as english.  Given that, it's even more ridiculous that this happened.

Personally, if you're going to like, suspend like this kid or whatever, it should like, be for talking like a caricature of like a california surfer dude or whatever:

Quote: It was, like, totally not in the classroom," the high school junior said, recalling the infraction. "We were in the, like, hall or whatever, on restroom break. This kid I know, he's like, 'Me prestas un dolar?' ['Will you lend me a dollar?'] Well, he asked in Spanish; it just seemed natural to answer that way. So I'm like, 'No problema.' "

"No problema" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10372148/

Well, I would have had him suspended too for answering like that when clearly the correct reply would have been: No HAY problema.
