I've been in Canada for more than 16 years, and I've learned not to assume that people from any latin american country are or behave the same way. Sometimes people who have been here for several years see newcomers down, they probably forget when they came.

But overall, I try not to judge someone I have never talked to cause I've been surprised how nice people can be,especially once they get to know the other person. I've met several argentines who don't fall into the stereotypical images of some movies of the past. The same applies to uruguayans, and chileans. I'm sure there are assh7les too, but assh7les live in every country aswell.

I since it is dangerous to generalize and criticize the whole community of any country, I remember the argentinian kid who passed away and wonder if he felt bad because other latinos disliked him just for being argentine, I think we all have to be very carefull and try not to show disaproval to others just because they are from a determined country.

BEsides I've been treated very well by an argentinian lady a knew several years ago.

Just kidding, actually I dont think I've ever heard Colombians bad mouth Panama. I dont think Colombians really dislike anyone, except La Guerrilla, but as for countries, I dont think so. But I know that lots of Venezolanos dont like Colombians. I also heard taht there is a little riff between Nicaragua and El Salvador. I'm not hating, im just going by what i heard.

It's unfortunate that in our countries there is alot of racism, but this is because people are afraid of what they do not know or understand. This is sad, but racism is something that has been around for ever, and will be here for ever no matter what we do, because some people are just so ignorant that they can't see the good in something that they do not understand, but I also feel that it's our duty to educate those who are like this, and let them know that one shouldn't judge another, because of the colour of their skin, but instead judge one based on their actions and the way they carry themselves. By just ignoring them and pretending like it's not there is also not going to help the situation. To me racist's are those who lack self confidence, and feel that by picking on others will somehow make them feel better about who they are, and where they come from. Seriously people if you look at history in the end we all come from the same place, because at one point in time we were...well our ancestors were all black. Don't believe me find out for yourself. The sad thing is that it only takes one person to poison the rest of the world, so this is why we should move and numbers and find a way to solve this problem, because if we don't it will only get worse.

Rick..!!! soy argentina y es verdad ese rumor de que los argentinos somos racistas..y seguramente habrá muchos argentinos que lo sean... como asi también los hay en cada uno de los demás países.. No creo que sea por un "accidente geografico", muchas veces pasa por "dejarse llevar" por un rumor (el que justamente no indica veracidad), y se olvidan de conocer, disfrutar, preguntar, sentir.. a las personas.. Vivo en una zona de la capital de Buenos Aires en la que a dos calles hay una comunidad Boliviana (de hecho las calles llevan el nombre de Sucre y La Paz) y me parecen personas trabajadoras como cualquiera de mi familia.. por otras calles hay una comunidad Japonesa y Coreana.. y en otras zonas de la capital se encuentran las comunidades Judias, Arabes, Dominicanas, Armenias y pufff muchas mas..y yo tengo amigos de muchas nacionalidades!! ...será que somos racistas como dicen los rumores?????

Actually Neruda when Rick was going on about Argentinos I rememberd hearing that "rumor" much more about the Spanish than any other country. I don't know enough of them to give an opinion but I hear that more often then anything else.

When I lived a in Barcelona,I was sorry to see how low of an opinion the Spainish have of us South Americans. Because I could move about almost"spy-like" (As I said I don't look latino) I was able to hear some very bad remarks about south americans.

I guess there seems to be a pecking order of some sort with the Spanish considering themselves at the top.

@RICK you said "Argentinos are the most racist of all the spanish countries" and I think that's a stupid statement. I have the right to think it's a stupid statement and I am pretty sure I am not alone on that. So I am sorry if you don't appreciate that but I don't agree with you and If I ever generalize an entire country then feel free to say my statement is stupid too. My husband is Argentino and most of my friends are from Argentina and I can assure you none of them are racist and they don't make silly general comments about any one country.
