In case none of you know about this place.. there is this huge Toy Warehouse on Beavercreek and Hwy 7 (west off the 404) called MIKO. They open every year around Christmas time. I went already this year. They have alot of selection at reasonable prices... Dolls, board games, cars, educational toys, books, decorations, wrapping paper (I got the big hallmark roll that is sold at $4.00 @ Shoppers for $1.00). It is honestly worth your while if you are shopping for kids.
Leap Frog games are fun and educational. You can get them at Wal Mart or Zellers. Clothes is something parents are constantly buying, so that's also a great idea. Movies is also a good idea............hope this helps!
Thanks guys...I got some really good ideas? What about "paper mache"...or...."oregami".....LOL
LADYBUG = FOR GIRLS I WOULD GO WITH UNDER 7 DEPENDING ON UR BUDGET JUST ABOUT ANYTHING DORA IF LETS SAY U HAVE 1-5 THE BACKYARDIGANS ARE IN AND SAME WITH THE WIGGLES OR A BUBAH
FOR BOYS SAME IF AGES 1-5 IF OLDER GO WITH CARS U CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH CARS
NOW FOR EDUMACTION I SUGGEST THE LEAP FROG SYSTEM FROM VIDEO GAMES TO BOOKS THAT HELP U READ TO VIDEOS ITS CALLED LEAP FROG AND HAS A FROG
BOYS ARE GENERALLY EASIER THEN GIRLS
LEGOS IS GOOD THEY CAN BUILD STUFF
GIRLS U CAN ALSO GET ALL THOSE FUN KITS THAT MAKE ACCESSORIES LIKE NECKLACES AND BRACELETTS AND STUFF LIKE THAT LOOK AT THE BOX FOR THE APPROPRIATE AGE GROUP
OR WHATS ALSO IN ARE THE BRATZ (FOR OLDER GIRLS AGES 5+
I'd suggest non-gendered specific toys, maybe musical stuff (pianos, guitars... no drums... the parents will kill you!) - My son got a guitar and a saxaphone last year for his birthday and i swear i could have killed my mom's friends!!! LB musical stuff..................no good!! Unless you want your friends to hate you everytime they play their instruments!!!LOL!!
Maybe drawing stuff. Legos are always good, or those wooden squares where they can learn letters and things. If you buy an electronic game, try to get them something where they learn colours, sounds, etc. Try not to buy anything with big or too many batteries, 'cause those end up being mighty expensive for the parents.Good point. Big batteries are too expensive!! The toy will end up costing the parens a lot of money!!!
For girls, dress up kits are always fun. Consider the age, though. No beads or anything that could be potentially dangerous. - the DISNEY store has a sale, you can get them Princess dress up clothing. I was there yesterday!!!

Don't buy anything too, too expensive. Kids are so fickle that all those expensive toys end up in a box somewhere. Books are always good, for that young age I'd suggest something with figures that pop up, where they can learn about animals, people, places, etc.
I should work for a toy store. This is so much fun!

Girls, those days, even little onces wants to looks like the teens, short skirts, make up, accessoriesand all, but it is not their time yet, they are still kids.
So, what is on right now ? well good question.
DVD will sure be appreciated, CD's as well. What about this game where you have to with pinzas, to get the bones and if you touch the side it will make a sound "doctor magoo" o algo asi. It can be played alone or with friends.....
I remember we used to be very happy with Lego's and things like that because we could just redo it over and over again with different shapes all the time.

For boys under 7 - get them legos or those connect thingy's, i forgot the name. My son got it this weekend as a gift. When i get home i'll let you know! Anyways, when they use things to build like those legos and other similar toys, it develops their mind more!! Legos has some pretty cool stuff!!
Also, if you don't mind spending like $40-$50. You can buy them those little laptops. It only has educational stuff on them. My son has one!! He loves it, cause he says he has his own computer! You can get them at Walmart or Toys R Us.
Books woman, books! Anything that gets their imagination going.
Maybe a little science kit, get them interested in discovering things.
