Dear Yesi, Iwish you a great trip, i went last year.

Well, everything is in U.S dollars, I found everything more expensive than before.  If you go to SOyapango dress casually, don't show any jewellery.

Go to the new multi plaza mall, and the new Siman, they are brand new and there are very safe, they look like any mall here, just more colorfull.

Don't eat staff from the streets cause you may get sick and may ended up not enjoy it those precious two weeks.

There's all kinds of fast food, so you won't miss burgers and pizzas huts; buy and cook your own food if you want the money to last longer (tough I didn't do this) I kept eating everything and drinking great coffee and fig pies.  There a lot more choices in reposteria than here, so try not to gain too much weigth, jajaja.

Keep loose change handy (all in U.S currency), don't forget your camera and recorder, for tough places use a disposable camera.

Take Imodium for any emergency. Relax, and you'll have a good time. Don't forget to smile at your relatives and old friends ( if you still have them there),good luck.

@ Yesi: El Salvador has gone through a big transformation, so its very 'Americanized' now. The shops, the currency, the fashion... all reflective of the good ol U S of A. A hundred American, could probably last you for about 1-2 days.  This is of course assuming that you will be paying for your family when you guys go out, or if you'll be going out to the local sites.

Its really beautiful right now, and a lot safer, so definately dont be afraid to check things out, just be sure that you go out with people from there, ie. your cousin's/family/friends etc.  They will most likely know the best places around and the safest route there.

When you are there, please, please, please drink una horchata de la calle in my honour... mmmmmm horchata..... mmmmmmm JUMMY!

Well, as for clothes, just take whatever you wear here in the summer time. At night time it might get a bit cool. But since you are used to the cold i don't think you'll need any sweater or anything. If you go out...DO NOT wear any jewellery....only if you are going to be driven around then maybe. But for safety just take off your rings and stuff like that. Do not carry a purse....I don't think you will be taking public transportation, but in case you do always have change available for the mareros that go on the buses asking for money. Mmmm....Just try to be as safe as possible.
