Now when you go to the pharmacy and ask for it the pharmacist will collect a bunch of personal information and give you some sort of lecture about the use of it. And charge a $20 dollar fee for the "advice/lecture".
Do you think that's going to regulate the use of it?

Theres two sides to this.... by making it accessable over the counter, its going to be used readily as a form of birth control intead of using it in an emergency case. Ie. Instead of opting for condoms or birth control pills, and using the morning after in case the condom breaks or in emergency situations, people are going to see it as their primary source of birth control.
However, it being accessable over the counter also cuts down on unnecessary wait time in going to the doctors and get the prescription and then heading over to the pharmacist. So it really does cut down on the amount of time spent.
If the proper education is being supplied along with the morning after pill, and the message is getting across that it should not be used as a PRIMARY source of birth control, then I think that we could regulate it like that.

Yeah I read on the paper you have to pay $20 for the talk.

DOESNT THE $20 DOLLARS INCLUDE IT?? THE ONE TIME I TOOK IT I WENT TO A DOCTOR WHO EXPLAIEND IT ALL TO ME AND THEN I WENT TO BUY IT FOR 30 SOMETHING BUCKS!
IT WONT REGULATE NADA! PLUS U CANT USE THAT MUCH ONLY EVERY THREE MONTHS OR SOMETHING SO MIGHT AS WELL GO ON THE PILL

I think that over the counter is better, it will prevent many unwanted pregnancies. But first people have to start protecting themselves, because the M.A.P. is not a form of a regular birth control.
If you were raped or had unprotected sex while drunk, $ 20 bucks and a lecture later you will be relieved... but for those who just have unprotected sex and THEN think about the consequences, nothing will make them change.
