OK, i need your help!!! I just pick a name for 'SECRET SANTA' here at work. To my luck, i ended up getting the name of this guy that has been wanting to go out with me since the day i got hired!! He has told me already and he's even jealous of my LUNCH buddy!!LOL!! Anyways, what should i get him without him thinking that i want him back??? BTW - when everyone finds out here at work, they are so going to think that i like him! So i have to be careful on what i get him!! Reason why i say this is because, i used to go out with him for lunch everyday until he told me his feelings. CAuse of that people used to think we had something and the rumour went to the whole office. That's when i stopped going to lunch with him!! WHAT SHOULD I GET HIM????

SOMETHING VERY IMPERSONAL A BOOK OR CD OR GIFT CERTIFICATE DONT GET HIM A TIE OR SHIRT WAY TO PERSONAL

A MUG OR GO TO THE IT STORE AND BUY HIM A GAG GIFT

@LadyBug- He's an Articling Student and he's nice. We get along! I think i'll get him those Christmas pkgs at Timmy's or a nice calendar or maybe a picture frame so he can put his daughters picture in it!!! I don't want to spend to much. Our limit is $25. I hope my boss (owner of the firm) hasn't gotten me, cause he's such a cheapass!

Thanks LB. Those were great suggestions!!

@ Angelita

Depending on how much you want to spend AND depending on the "relationship" dynamic......here are some options:

- A brief case OR leather binder LOL  (typical)

- Tickets to a concert OR play OR movie

- Chocolate, Books, Music, Videos, Flowers (anything typical)

- A nice calendar for the office (desk or wall)

- A picture frame OR Plant for the office

- (personal) A Tie, shirt, funny t-shirt

- a MUG with Timmy's coffee supply (LOL)

- a Christmas Cake

Give me some idea of what you have in mind so I can help you...

The poor child doesn't get to have a special day just for her!

It doesn't really suck for my son!! Everyone makes sure they give him two gifts!! I also celebrate his birthday 1 week before the actual date. Since it's difficult for everyone to show up on the 25th.

Yes, my son was born on the 25th of December. I'll never forget that day!! He was my gift on Christmas day '02!! By far, my best gift ever!!

Hopefully now that he's going to turn 3, he might be able to sit quietly during mass!

For many years we only did a manger.

You should see the one we have this year......I walk in my house and I feel like I'm in Bethlehem....

We only started to do the tree again because of the kids.

I used to go to mass every Sunday....But now I go for the special occassions....Easter, Christmans and New Years...

I go to midnight mass, and if all goes well, every week we'll be touching the subject on the true meaning of christmas and on Baby Jesus this December at a couple of christian focus groups.

I guess no that many people celebrate it, but we sometimes go to Church, i haven't the last couple of years since my son was born!! Plus i also celebrate my son's birthday that day!! But not going to curch doesn't mean you're not a good Christian. But that's another topic, i don't want to change this thread!

Well, I guess if you put it that way, it's obvious. I just thought, "oh, not, another foro gathering... on the 25th? How is this possible???"

THE HARDEST PART OF SHOPPING WOULD BE KNOWING WHAT TO GET PEOPLE.....

SO......

#1. Make a list of all the people you have to shop for.....family, friends, co-workers, kids.....

#2. Make a list of all the gifts you want to buy them (Be specific, brand names and all)

#3. Make a list of all the stores you have to hit to purchase these gifts.

#4. (IF) you know the order of the stores you need to visit, it will decrease your walking time.

#5. IF along the way, you find something BETTER than what you had on the list, by all means, GET IT!!!

#6. Genie mentioned this before: PICK ONE MALL AND DO ALL YOUR SHOPPING THERE....(in and out)

BEST TIME TO GO SHOPPING "AROUND TOWN" IS DURING THE DAY......9AM-NOON
IT'S WORTH IT TO TAKE THE 3 HOURS OFF WORK EVEN TWICE BEFORE CHRISTMAS
TO GET EVERYTHING DONE, AVOID, TRAFFIC, STRESS, LINEUPS, CROWDED MALLS, SCREAMING KIDS.....

*** IDEAS FOR GIFTS ***

I will share some ideas with your guys to make it easier while you shop......
I personally do not like useless and thoughtless gifts......
I would rather someone give me a $1 chocolate bar that I KNOW I'm going to enjoy
AND lick my fingers to.......rather than some cheesy, costly clothing article I will never wear!

LADYBUG'S TOP 10 GIFT IDEAS PEOPLE WILL APPRECIATE (not in any specific order)

#1. BOOKS

(go to INIDIGO & CHAPTERS, pick out a good book that you know the person will enjoy....For example: cooking books, travel books, playboy magazines, top sellers, educational books....)

#2. GIFT CERTIFICATES

(As impersonal as this may sound, it is the most ideal gift)......It can either be to a very nice Restaurant, THE MOVIES, a personal store preference, Shoppers Drug Mart, Future Shop, and even YORKDALE Mall offers certificates to any store in the actual Mall)

#3. SPA & MASSAGE

(Treat them to a day at the SPA, a beauty make over or even a 1 hour massage....they will appreciate this soooo much)

#4. ALCOHOL: BEER, LIQUEUR, WINE

(One of the most neutral gifts and very practical) Buy their drink preference OR a gift certificate to the LCBO.
Also, maybe for your co-workers, the LCBO offers little ALKI gitf ideas, already designed and wrapped) LOL

#5. ELECTRONICS: VIDEO GAMES, CD'S, DVD, MOVIES

(Any software program, BLANK CD'S, new DVD movies, a new CD, this year try a local artist perhaps: FITO BLANKO, TUMBAO, CARLOS CRUZ, WILSON MANUEL, PLAN C, SON ACHE, CACHE.....lots to choose from)

#6. CONCERT TICKETS

(Do some research and see what concerts are coming up, Latin OR non!)
Juanes March 4 @ Hershey Centre.......or call around all venues, ACC, Msssey Hall, Rogers Center...etc

#7. CHOCOLATE

(Another neutral idea everyone loves.......spend the money on GOOD chocolate, something you know they will love......worst come to worst, they will not eat it and give it away) LOL.......you can fill up a gift bag with their fav chocolates......How much do you think that will cost in bulk?

#8. GASOLINA

(It might sound weird, but it's funny to see their reaction when they open the gift.....and it's very original and well appreciated LOL) ....Get gift certificates to Petro Canada, or ESSO...... (even $20 goes a long way)

#9. JEWLERY

(The bestest gift by far......BE CREATIVE) A charm, a necklace, a ring, a nice watch....even for girls, play jewlery.....the kind that's in style now......it doesn't have to be expensive.....

#10. A CHRISTMAS CARD

Write your thoughts and feelings and deliver the card in a special way (even by email) LOL
I can't emphasize how creativity goes such a loooong way......not everything is about $$$$

I HOPE ALL THIS HELPS YOU GUYS OUT.......PM ME IF YOU NEED DETAILED ADVICE........
(some of you have already) LOL

Have fun!
