I think you should divorce your parents right now!
I'll hook up the legal representation for you, no worries!
Your parents should have known better than to have allowed you to catch the cold bug. Damn parents I tell ya!

Too funny!

You know what Phanta.....for ONCE I did not appreciate your sarcasm.
Jokingly or not, it was uncalled for.

My comment about Kuwait was simply to show an example that other places in the world
where people live differently and a bit stress free.......it's the same tranquility anywhere else in Europe
and I'm sure it's the same in South America.....and none of those continents are "built on top of millions of dollars worth of Oil".....their lifestyle is just more peaceful than ours that's all.....and they have NAP TIME ALL THE TIME.....FAMILY TIME ALL THE TIME......or am I wrong??

Kuwait was merely an example showing how people are not
as much affected by the daily stress which can feed into Cancer....or speed it up drastically.....
Stress and especially Depression are found mainly in North American lifestyles......
......even the poor and middle classed people in Kuwait live at peace.....bit stress free, whther or not they have to hussle to survive......

Now.....the comment about "are parents to blame" was directed to the boy jumping off the balcony.....
NOT HIS PARENTS as much as the "strict" parents of the girl.....
I should have worded myself differently....
Of course the girl with the allergy had no way of knowing......nevermind her parents......

It's all about RESPECT Phanta........

OR

Are the kids "old enough" to realize what they're doing....

Im sure if we had built our country on top of millions of dollars worth of Oil we'd be CHILLIN too.... also it doesnt hurt that their country is like the size of one of our provintial parks... but anyways, once our pockets gets to be anywhere near theirs than we can work on some nap time for u ok?

THE #1 CAUSE OF CANCER IS "STRESS"
Ummm, I think stress can speed up cancer but the origin could be the alteration of genes in our bodies by factor such as chemicals in food and the environment, as well as pathogen such as viruses and bacteria.  e.g: stomach ulcers can turn into cancers, it was thought that ulcer were derived from stress in our lives, but an australian scientist discover that bacteria can survive the stomach acid and live under the linen of the stomach, this is the origin of most ulcers, stress just make it worse as the body releases chemicals such as adrenaline. That's why I said before: keep aways from uncooked food such as Suchi, many japanese suffer these infections. Also, many frutes, grains and vegetables have been genetically modified, in europe they are labelled as such, in Canada stores don't have to release that info, that's why we see humongous tasteless vegetables and grains.  Nowadays vegetables and frutes don't have the same amount of vitamines and minerals that those grown centuries ago had cause the land has lost them, that's why there are fertilized heavily and that's why we also need to supply our bodies with vitamins. Coca Cola has like 6-9 table spoons of sugar in them per can, little kids go hypper and their mothers give them chocolate to control them, yeap, I've seen that on buses and subways.  Aluminum cooking utensil can dissolved as oil heats up and the food carry it to our brains where it can cause Alzeimer's desease; Why the goverment don't do anything?,cause aluminum is one of the greatest industries and pay taxes.  One doctor told me that the goverment would whish citizen to pass away by 65 so they don't collect pension for too long!

@ Bainaman

I have to say, that yes, I have seen or heard about much more health problems here that I have seen in MX. In France thought, is it mostly cholesterol problems and heart conditions (how can you resist all these pastries, cheeses, cold meat….mmmmmm).

And I agree with you, the food is very different as well as eating habits. In my case, I was raised with homemade food. I discover the junk food when I was 13 +/- so it did not really change affected me. But we never had soda on the table but always water to go with the meal. All aliments were represented and our moms made sure that we would have a portion of everything.

So I guess that even if I don’t pay the same attention to it, today, I still have the basis to know what a good healthy alimentation is and how to take care of myself!

In France, I was lucky enough to go back home for lunch when I was a kid and the Cafeteria world started when I went to H.S and back then it was not that bad. But I know that today, the food they serve is disgusting. BTW, have you ever seen the TV show of this English chef, trying to prove that even for the same, ridiculous low price, you can actually have an very healthy meal; it just take more time to prepare! His fight is a though one but he is raising a lots of voices.

In Mexico, I was very close to kids (lets say that I had 3 tornados for a couple of years) so I had a chance to see what other kids “lunchera” was made of or either what the parents were giving them in between meals, omg . And until today, I do not understand why the parents put chips, soda and cookies, instead of a portion of real food. Especially when the moms cook. This is part of the kid education that must be taught by the parents.

Unfortunately, sports almost disappeared form the school program. Before we were going trough with 3 to 4 hours of sports every week, at school, including atletismo (?), team games, gymnastics, and swimming pool…. Plus extra activities after school : more sport.

But I guess this is not the way parents (in general) raise their kids here. It seems some much easy to put them in front of the TV, give them only what they ask to eat and buy peace that way ! And this is very sad. I don’t think the “but we are working parents and have no time” is a good excuse, mine worked as well and they still had time. I don’t say it is an easy task but who said parenthood was !

We do have a busier life those days, with more stress and all. Therefore, we are not paying that much attention any more to the quality of our food and will probably go to the easiest way to feed us. Like buying sauces already made instead of buying the ingredients and doing it yourself. And yes, exercise is long time gone, although a lots of pple are now buying good conscience toward society going to the gym and then, pack like crazy all week long. This is not the right way to do it !

So I guess that I am not surprised to hear about all these allergies and cancers….. but I do think that we have still have the option to make things right by not buying all this pre-prepared food which will help us to avoid most of those illnesses; and that the parents should be much more responsible when it comes to their kids health. I have the impression that sometimes they think that the school will do it for them, wrongggg.

So many things are coming trough my mind right now about this but I will spend my day on this theme, and believe it or not, I do have some work to do. But I could go on with that for a while so I guess  we will finish this talk another day

@LADYBUG

HAHA, I wouldn't mind leaving, kind of like the I AM CANADIAN thread.

Its just that my company has really screwed over our department! short staffed etc, and I took it all the wrong way - not taking lunch away from my desk and being in a hurry to get into work, leaving late, etc. the result?

FASTER FOODS - like frozen dinners, only a banana, rice and meats w/ some veggies
LOWERED IMMUNE SYSTEM - b/c of the bad food, less time for excercise, but time for social gatherings that ppl had time for only friday nights or saturday nights which meant
UNSTRUCTURED SLEEP PATTERNS - unproductive weekends, regret for the w/e to go by quickly
STRESS- All week long multiplied by o say,16 weeks from Feb to May
STRESS + LOWERED IMMUNE SYSTEM equals all the sickness I suffered during the summer. And My boss doesn't understand why i called in sick the third time this week

oh yea, and I thought of the

MY BODY - THE ONLY HOME I GOT FOR FREE

sometime last week, I wanted to share it with you guys, kind of test that philosophy b/c its not something I considered the last 20something years. some of us already live by that but what about those of us who didn't have that wisdom.?

@ Maracuyaaaaa

I really like how you said this:

My BODY - THE ONLY HOME I GOT FOR FREE - Needs my attention!!

Living conditions are so messed up here....
the ideal thing would be to take the good and leave the bad,
and then get out of this country ASAP....LOL

THIS IS INTERESTING!!

I have the worst case of calling in sick at work this year, THE WORST! My boss may be considering 'reconsidering' my promotion earlier this year, haha!

Butchu know what? My BODY - THE ONLY HOME I GOT FOR FREE - Needs my attention!! I have the strongest type of common cold, and due to Month End, if I were going to work with this 'sickness' I'd be STRESSING myself out Very Much - and therfore prolonging the cold and making room for the 'bacteria' to continue grow.

work in Toronto can be very stressful and I'm a strong believer that it can kill you!

I'll get more into it later.....but for now...

The types of cancers that are common in North America are directly linked to the "Wester Lifestyle". There is a direct link between Colon, rectum, breast & prostate cancers....with obesity, lack of excersie, diet and age.

Now you can say that it's a persons choice as to what they eat & how and if they excersise.....which is true....but I believe that it's also related to education and the environment that's created around us.

It's starts at and early age.....like schools for example. Schools with cafeterias offer kids the poorest choices of food.....highly unhealthy for the most part. Again...it's the kids choice to eat it or not.....however they fall victim to the environment....if they or their parents didn't or couldn't prepare them a lunch...and they have to eat......well...they're gonna eat what available.

I believe that the way food is being processed....all the chemicals they put in them....are just killing us. I also believe that it's calculated...and not by accident or circumstance.

The types of cancers that are common in south america (or under developed countries) are linked to the way they preserve food....by necessity... usually salted or smoked meats that can cause parasitic infections.

All this to say that although cancer (and other diseases) is prevelant all over the world....the way we contract them...and the types......are suspect.

IMHO
