Hey, thanks for the suggestions for my summer reading list.
do yourself a favour and stay away from Bitter Grounds... such a waste of time If you really want it, I'll see if I can still piece together the pieces from the bottom of my bird's cage, Im sure they wont mind.

My trust in the edumacation system has totally desintegrated.
LOL No cabe duda que es verdad que la costumbre, es más fuerte que las reglas gramaticales. Ma bad! "Its moments", pero me entendiste, no? on me.

You can probably get a free (autographed) copy from Lahtina. I really, reall liked it, which for you and other members of this foro that I'm not too popular with will probably mean putting it on the "No Read" list.

I'm out on this edition of Book Club (if anyone is actually reading the book). I don't have that book in my collection and I just started another one yesterday.
Oh, you guys are such goofs! Go get the book, lit a joint, have a bottle of Jack Daniels beside you and read it in the toilett or while having sex if that makes you feel good, but just go get the book and read it! I can't promise you the sex part (or the toilett part) for the group discussion, though.
SO THEN WATS DA POINT OF READING IT..IF U CANT ACT OUT???

Wow Buffy.... I really like the way you made it sound!
I thought that we were going to all hang out in some dark smokey bar with Mana blasting in the background, as we all sat around the bar drinking some domestic beer and smoking while casually refering back to the book every so often.
One thing I'd like you guys to know about this book club is that it'll probably be very, very informal (in part because 99% of you guys don't give a hoot). I've never belonged to a book club and I guess one of the things that's turned me off about book clubs is that it's all so formal: you have to sit in a board room for an hour and have a sort of intellectual competition on who interpreted the book better). I like reading books and I think reading is a very intimate experience and it touches your emotional side more than the intellectual. I find a well lit corner in my house, a comfy chair or a fluffy pillow and then I get immersed in my book and I wouldn't change that experience for the world. I want us all to feel the same way and share what we felt about the story and the people in it and at the same time learn a little bit about the context and the place and the author. So have fun reading and I'll let you know when we find a comfy little rincon where we can sit, have a cup of coffee and talk about Sandra Benitez and Bitter Grounds.

It s looks good,. but are this book club meeting in someone house??? because it would be better if the comitte set a time an day in which the members can review the book online,.. (si fue eso lo que estaban pensando sorry,. soy medio despistada),.. it would be like a Cyber book club,.. Just an idea,.
My vote was for Julia Alvarez: In the time of the butterflies/En el tiempo de las mariposas,. it s a true story,.. and I have never read a book of her,..
@ Baina: I don't think there's a Spanish version of Bitter Grounds, but don't quote me on that. I only read English reviews. Also, check this out: http://www.ofertondelibros.com/libros/Fiction-Sagas.html And this is in Canada.
THIS BOOK ISNT LIKE A MILLION PAGES LONG IS IT??? CUZ MY LIMIT IS 599

To see which book we'll be starting our Nerd Club...er... Book Club with, check back on Friday afternoon. As for me, I've already reserved three of the choices on the Public Library system. I've started the mass print out at my work. Nothing beats good ol fashion print outs from a printer. Takes me back to university days when I spent countless hours photocopying text books from the library. Anyone interested, let me know and I'll hook it up for a reasonable price....
DAMN WIFEY..... SHOULDN'T I BE THE GHETTO ONE???

I like the Sandra Benitez. Benitez is one of my family names. Coincidence? Also, the fact that "Prieto" is in the book. LOL. No, but in all seriousness, that one called my attention the most, so far.
