hey bro take a look at this video http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/wwdc05/ it will help answer some of ur questions, its long so u may want to skip closer to the end when they start talking about the transition to PC's.
not all PCs will be able to run OS X... 'legally'. Right now you can download a hacked beta of OS X that runs on any PC, we did it here at the company, unfortunately only the operating systems works at the moment, none of the software/applications work because they need to be compiled for Intel chips.
AS for the PC Macs, when they arrive, they'll only be able to run on certain PCs that apple will sell, of course there'll be a hack for this and you'll be able to run it on any PC, BUT you'll need to have hardware(sound card, video card, etc) that's supported by Apple otherwise you might not be able to find drivers for it.
So my advice is, either buy the MAC, or find versions of the software you'll use (or equivalent) for Windows and buy a top of the line PC (my dell XPS kicks ass)

same thing, u have nothing to worry about in that department.

Are you talking about pc's using like an emulator to run mac programs???
Like......I have Virtual PC for mac......I run XP and 2000 with it........off of my mac. I'm not a big fan......but at least it gets me by. Is that the sort of thing you're talking about?
Pro Tools can has a PC version.......But I'm still leaning towards the Mac. I'm still researching....so....we'll see.
Thanks for your help!
no no....I'm talking about buying OS X and being able to install it on ur PC not using any virtual program. On the last keynotes that Steve J put up just around the release of tiger, he did the whole presentation of the new OS on a PC (hardware), the main reason for this is that the old company that use to make the PowerPC Processor(IBM) couldn't keep the heat down on them and if u have ever worked with a G5 u know that this computers can heat up a room nicely during winter time :P. Apple has desiced to go with Intel because the speed of their processors are just as fast and they can control the heat, by summer next year u will be able to buy a PC with OS X already installed on them.

Music programs. That's why. They Mac's are the industry standard and are more reliable. Their chips also eliminate a lot of headaches such as latency........and what not.........
bro, let me tell u something, macs being better than pc's is a thing of the pass, like god said with all the money u r going to spend on a Mac u can get a top of the line PC. Another thing, I don't know if u have heard but OS X is already runing on PC's meaning that a pc will be able to run any program u may have on a mac, like Pro Tools ;).
One of the guys here said to just buy the standard 512 MB RAM from Apple and then buy standard PC3200 RAM from any store(the 1.5 GB will cost you about 120 dollars, so you'll save about 500 dollars there).
Thank You!!!
I'll look into that. Sounds good....

At the office we use Mac for everything (laptops, desktops, servers), we've got some sweet deals with apple, so I'll see what the 'real price' for this model is.
