I've been trying to watch "Lakshya" for the longest time and I just can't finish this movie.... I always fall asleep in the same part and it's getting very frustrating... looks like I'm gonna have to return it w/o watching it...
the script is very slow and the acting is not very good (based on what I've seen)

@LadyBug - looks like we have another recruit. LMAO. Next on the agenda, bolly world domination. LOL. Guys, that movie I mentioned earlier on "Ek Ajnabee", it's the bollywood take on the movie "Man on Fire". I would really like to see how they adapted it to bollywood, how they incorporated the music acts, etc. BTW McOsi - all those films are good, I thought Koi Mil Gaya was alright but the other 2 are pretty good.-- Edited by Colombiana4Life at 19:12, 2005-12-27
I gotta admit it.... Bollywood is a totally different style of movies that I was used to.... and I love it....it's such a tender enviroment.
so from now on I'm McOshirinny

Black is an excellent movie, but majority of movies that Amitabh Bachchan is in (the old guy) are very good. That guy is a bollywood legend.

Girl, I think we better leave some of this stuff for January, it's x-mas time and these weeks are extremely busy. When I was at Albion mall last week I saw a few good movies out. One is a comedy by Yash Chopra "Neil N' Nikki". Another comedy "Dosti" with Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar. A drama with Amitabh Bachchan and some little girl (can't recall her name). The movie is Ek Ajnabee, and one I really wanna see "Taaj Mahal". It looks like it's a "Veer-Zaara" or "Devdas" type of movie. My avatar is from that movie, that one I really wanna see. But like I said, i think it's better for January, what do u guys think?
I will discuss with Colo....do some research for best movie, best time and date and let u guys know..... I'd love to go next week.....how about you guys?

Next week is perfect, since today is my last day of night school and then we are off on a 3 week vacation. So anytime in the next 3 weeks is perfect for me!!!
@ MC - Are you kidding me, I am not wearing a Sari or anything of that sort. We will just get stare downs!! I would only do that at my friends wedding or any other traditional get together!!!LOL!!
Anyone is welcome to join Colo, Angelita and I.....we'll find a good one and make it an after work movie night....7pm or so...so it's convenient for all of us.....cool?
AND WHEN WILL THIS TAKE PLACE??

Bollywood Hollywood wasn't that good....and neither was Pride and Prejudice.....especially if you've seen REAL Bollywood full of emotion movies....
You are so right girl, the real bollywood movies are so romantic and full of emotions!! I love their movies!! Sometimes they make me cry!! I get so into those movies!!
@ Angelita....like Colo said, we're doing a Bollywood movie outing, so feel free to join us....(we'll let u know when)....and yes, Colo has a good selection of movies she can lend you..... I recently saw BLACK and Shah Ruh Khan's 2004 Tour LIVE.... BTW Colo....I heard SHAADI No#1 is so funny....and Salaam Namaste is good also.....(remember the list of movies I sent you a while back? ....ALL of those are TOP 10)
That would be so perfect. I would love to join both you and Colo to one of those movies. Let me know when you both decide to go. Just in case there is a power outage or something and i'm not on el foro, you know where to call me!! LOL!! This reminds me, i'm gonna call up my Indian friends tonight. I haven't seen them in a while!!
@ Colombiana - Let me know when you are interested in going for lunch. It's seems like there are a lot of foro members working in the downtown area!! That way we can about these movies!! LOL!! (Finally someone who enjoys these movies like i do!!!)
....watch this movie and you will appreciate your parents 100 times more....PLUS it will make you cry for hours (right Colo) lol
I saw WATER in the theatres....and it is NOT all that they make it out to be......NOTHING HAPPENS in the movie until the last 20 mins.....and it's very senseless......loooong, dragging movie, no action, not many feelings, really no point.....It is just about WIDOWS in India.....how they live and how society looks upon them.
Any movie by SHAH RUKH KHAN is highly recommended....he is by far the most emotional and popular Bollywood actor of all time......
@ Colo.....check your PM's please....(I've sent u at least 3 in the passed 3 weeks)

She is a good director. How did u meet the cast? U met John Abraham?????????? And u didnt say anything???????. Ur not invited to Albion Cinemas anymore. LOL. Ya, that movie "Wottah", is that the west indian version??.....
I met lot's of "interesting" people this summer and Deepa was one of them....unfortunately I didn't get a chance to shake hands with her or any of the cast, cuz I was working in camera that day....but I got to talk to Tim Burton, and Robert Downey Jr.....

@ COLO - Hey girl, i love Bollywood movies. I haven't watched any in a while. But i used to work with a lot of Indian people for about 2 years and they got me into watching their movies! I love their clothing, for my friends wedding i almost wore a Sari, until i found out that i was pregnant! By the time the wedding came along i couldn't wear one!! Girl, that would be so perfect if you could lend some movies!! You work downtown right???
Yes I work downtown. So we could meet up. Also, about their clothing, I'm also waiting to be invited to an event just so I have an excuse to buy my self either a saari or a lengha. Actually, last week I bought my oldest daughter a beautiful legha (that's the short little top with the skirt, and the scarf to wear around the neck). She's dancing for a little girl in a wheel chair that my mom takes care of, and she decided to make one of her performances and indian dance, actually a song and routine from "Veer Zaara". I see her in her outfit and she looks so beautiful. I think if it fit me, i'd be wearing it around the house. LOL

Colombiana4Life wrote: Well, Bride and Prejudice is not really considered a bollywood movie, it's kind of like Hollywood/Bollywood. Those movies have more western elements to it. They're OK movies, but they're not the true essence of Bollywood. Did u see Veer Zaara with the English or Spanish subtitles? I saw it in English subtitles.... and I loved the lines... very deep at some points... I wanna see Fire, Earth and "Water" by Deepa Mehta.... would they be on DVD?
Yes, the lines are very deep. Especially the lyrics to the songs. Veer-Zaara is actually one of the few movies that all the songs are good. Most movies have some good songs and some are just OK. But Veer Zaara has amazing songs. You should hear the instrumental versions, they're amazing.
Fire and Earth would be in DVD. Water just came out in the theatre, so i doubt it, but I'm sure you can get a bootleg already. Deepe Mehta movies, again, are not the true essence of Bollywood. She is a Hindu director who has been based in Canada for many years. Although Water does tell a true tale of Hindu culture. Actually, LadyBug and I are planning an outing to Albion Cinemas to catch some flicks. If u're interested, let us know.
@ Angelita, that goes for u too.
