@ PRIETO: people will adjust to any music as long as it makes them dance and vibe (even if the song is in another language or really weird and new)......HOWEVER.....too much of anything is NOT good and it's boring......and believe me, I will be the last person to say NO to Reggaeton, but control is the key and feeling the crowd will gain you immediate power....without that power you are just your average CD switching Joe!
I have heard many DJ's play, all nationalities, playing all genres at various parties, weddings....etc......and I also know my music.....(being friends with a thousand international DJs also helps LOL).....so I qualify myself to judge and advise.....
I have not yet seen a Dj in action (in Canada at least).....that can top DJ CARLITOS......he has the ability, gift and experience to get people moving, no matter what song he plays......so I strongly advise "new comer" DJs to learn from the best.

@ Ladybyg: One this is for sure, most of the upcoming Dj's only Dj Reggaeton at least that's what i c so far i have yet to see a complete Dj that spins everything... I personally use to be a salsero hardcore and mixed ,mostly meren, bachata, cumbia, but now a Dj must PLAY REGGAETON and hip hop & reagge it's a must!!! You have to Adjust that's all!!!

These new djs are very talented I swear three years ago I only new one upcoming dj now there is a whole bunch the dj competition is going to be hard to choose the winner if we do it we will make sure its 100 percent fair and all u cats know that I cool with all of you so there will be no favorites just one hard core compitition

Old School Reggae is a definite: Buju Banton, Shabba Ranks, Mad Cobra, etc.
Salsa - old school hardcore salsa - Fruko y sus Tesos, Latin Brothers, Guayacan, Grupo Niche, Oscar D'Leon, the classics never die.
Merengue - I'm actually into the old school merengue too, Cocoband, La Gran Manzana, Josie Esteban y la Patrulla 15
Cumbia - again the oldies, Lizandro Meza, Sonora Dinamita, the old school Cumbias from Colombia
Bachata - not a big fan, i dont mind it though, so anything goes
R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggeaton - pretty much what u already play
Spanish Rock - the more "danceable" ones, if u wanna call it that, Soda Estereo, Mana, Juanes, Enanitos Verdes, Fabulosos Cadillacs. Mind u, with Spanish rock u really gotta pick these songs carefully as most of them are the kind of music u just sit back and chill to.
