the reason you don't see many good local latin artist is because TLN is one of those promoter that refuse to PAY THE LOCAL GUYS WHAT THEY ARE WORTH. i was expecting Fito Blanko, Tumbao, Ricky Franco, Dirty Maria, just to name a few on diferent latin styles.

FITO BLANKO was there and he tore that stage up! I was there on saturday afternoon and saw Fito perform with Cache. WIKIT set. Y'all missed a good show. We don't get to see him perform with a live band nowadays like back when hit the scene. That was the highlight of the day for me.

not to insult anyone but why are u guys soo dramatic?

It wasn't that bad at all...actually I went to corso italia couple of weeks back...and I must say that Salsa on St.Clair beat their attendance by at least 60%....it was packed......I was there since Friday 6pm and by 7 it was rammed....Lots of people came out....old, new latin...non latins...los colados ...

definitivamente TLN merece un credito...to make people dance...have fun...hellooo, just the fact that finally latinos will have a festival were we can close a main artery of the city cuz St.Clair is a huge recognized street..part of toronto's History blah blah blah ...so shouldn't we be proud of having at least our first festival were we can party, dance...see old & new friends...drink..flirt ok whatever...

I do agree that a bigger variety of artists needs to be added to thier performance list...and gosh that Tanya girl gave me a migraine..but thats were we should act and not just type or chit chat about it....I bet if we send emails to TLN requesting our favourite local artist to perform at shows..ect..they will consider...I personally wasn't aware of toronto local movenment...I tend to be more in tune of what's going on in Miami, New York...cuz man    it's hard to find updated music in T.O. but since I found this forum...I have also found a lot of local talent and I'm impress....every1 is doing their thing and it doens't sound bad at all...however here in TH forums...I read soo much Bull$hit and bad mouthing, hating, jealousy about our talent...it's just sick...

We are never happy.....

I thought it was going to suck since it was TLN's but it turned out better than expected. I went on friday and by the end of the night there were a lot of people. I thought Tania did a poor job "hosting" the event. I mean c'mon...
I also thought there shouldve been more vendors, I was hoping to get nice traditional things but there was mostly food.
There were no problems so it was ok, I hope TLN makes it better next year, I heard its going to be a 3 day event.

I thought it was ok...the band Cafe Cubano was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Absoletly spectacular!!!!  For the first time they did the festival it wasn't bad.  What i thought sucked was the fact that there was not a lot of food.  I tried to get some ecuadorian food and the vendors didn't even speak spanish...and to top it off there was a dirty band-aid in one of the food trays where the platano was!!!!!!!!!!  That really turned me off and the food wasn't even ecuadorian...it was just pork.  But like I said it was ok for the first time they did the festival...

I did go, I had fun but like Xavier said it depends on who you go with and what you do.

How ever i guess i was expecting more, More vendors more of a Latin Culture Punch more of a Jazz festival Kind of environment. I mean for what it was the frist time was nice! BUT WHEN U SAY SALSA ON ST. CLAIR I EXPECTED MORE WELL SALSA NO??

It was nice however but TLN needs to

        1. Get more organized, more vendors more of an atomosphere

       2. get better host!! Ismael is what kept it all in a bit of a hype

       3. Get all kinds of acts local talent

oh and Props to Mc Puppet and Gabo nice performace guys!

BUT overall for the frist time id say it was ok nothing extra ordinary or wow but good!!

SABOR NUEVOS BOOTH WAS THE ONE PLACE EVERYONE WAS AT AND WAS ROCKING THE WHOLE TIME!!

This festival had all the pretty decorations and the glitter, but you have to admit. The shows sucked. TLN keeps hiring the same damn people for these events that its getting boring now. How many times have they hired Carlos Cruz????? I love the way he performs but I heard the same songs that I heard when i saw him perform 3 years ago. There's better talent around

Indeed I went there (for 15 mins) and it was all I saw. Also I saw a Foro member she didn't say hi.

i thought it was worth my time. your alwayz going to see the typical little latino thugs and little hoochie. The food was great, i didn't see any drunks. I also didn't see anyone disrespecting any performers. I enjoyed it very much! I actually preffer this event thank wonderland latinfest. You saw a diversity type of people (whites, blacks, indians, italian, etccc. enjoying our culture), in wonderland there's always a whole bunch of little thugs making problems.
