In my Opinion. I've been hearing alot of DJ's since 19 0 Long From. Turntablist. DJ Jr. Flow, Grouch, Dopey, Best Blend Djs Starting from scratch, Max B, Soca Monarchs but There's this guy name who can do it all. His name is J.V. and he goes by the name of niceness. I sat down with the dj and here's his bio.
I asked him how did he get started? At age four, though he could barely reach the keys on the piano, it was discovered that he was in fact a musical child prodigy who could play anything from Chopin to Beethoven perfectly after hearing it only once. A trip to visit relatives in New York in 1985 swayed him from classical to more contemporary music and most importantly introduced him to turntablism.
As a youngster, while other kids his age were sleeping, he was learning, staying up late listening to any DJs he could find on the radio. Growing up, his radio dial was as schizophrenic as his musical tastes, from Modern Rock to Hip HOP to Soca, reggae and more.
After teaching himself how to dj and emulating his favorite djs, he went out shopping at Traxxx records and play De record to get himself started. he became one himself and starting making mix-tapes and performing while still in high school.
After being a part of several successful sound crews and collectives, he took his skills and became a favourite club and concert dj in Toronto, playing alongside world famous djs like Starting from Scratch, DJ Vibes, Eric Ling, Black Chiney, Stone Love, and Dr. Hyde. He has rocked crowds at home and internationally to much success and has also delved into internet radio as a way to connect with his fan-base.
Besides being a dj, J.V. also has a business providing graphic design, cd production, duplication and printing.
He continues to dj, produce, create and challenge himself as he works his way towards his ultimate goal of producing his own tracks, remixes and commercially released mixed CDs & albums. From child prodigy to fully rounded man of music, JV has come full circle.
when you first meet him, peoples 1st reaction is oh he's a nice guy, funny and likes to have a good time. But when he starts to play on a turn tables, people stepped back and watch him play for different genres of music and get the crowd dancing.
You think DJ Starting from scratch is good? Look out for DJ Niceness. That's who I rate.

THEY ARE SO USED TO HEARING BAD DJ'S, THAT THEY DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT'S GOOD! I've seen bad dj's get gig after gig after gig. Why? One of two reasons; they either bring a crowd; or they have good business sense ie. networking, social skills, charisma. So really, just because you do more gigs or have a residency somewhere, does not mean you're a better dj. Don't get it twisted! Another point that should be brought up is originality. Yes, a dj could master an amazing set and play it every weekend for 6 months, and people keep coming back dancing to the exact same thing as if they're in some sort of trance. What sets apart a good dj from a bad dj is that a good dj acts on impulse and not on what he played last week or what he heard on the radio or what some other dj is playing. It also should be noted that dj's that play someone elses sets and mixes or remixes are NOT REAL DJ'S. To me, the best example of this would be Dj Danny D. I don't know how many people have heard him play live, but I have on numerous occassions. He's a regular club dj, at par with just about anyone downtown. But how many people know that? Not many, because everyone hears those crazy Z103 mixes, that get played out on the radio (I almost barfed after hearing that Lean Back/Yeah mix all last summer, 30 million times). These mixes are so heavilly edited, their was no real skill or originality put into them. But, people worship him like God! I'm not hating, but this guy really does not deserve all that recognition. On the other hand, Starting from Scratch (flow 93) does it up everyday on 3 different radio shows. Always different music, different genres and never the same old thing. That right there, is the epitome of a good dj. He has the musical knowledge, he can mix anything, he can remix anything. He is definitely Canada's number one DJ. I don't want to make this seem so scientific, but please, make educated decisions when saying that one person is a better dj than another. Things are not always what they appear to be....... Starting from Scratch had a mentor. Someone who taught him the business. Showed him the tricks of the trade and the fine craft of mixing and blending two records. This person is who made SCRATCH who he is right now. He has SIX residencies with each night showcasing a different gendre of music which shows how much knowledge this DJ has and what kind of mixing / programming skills he has. Residencies include: MONDAY - C-LOUNGETUESDAY - HOTEL WEDNESDAY - FLUIDTHURSDAY - ULTRA SUPPER CLUBFRIDAY - LOBBY SATURDAY - ORANGE ROOM @ THE GUVERNMENT DJ Aristotle aka Jakes is TORONTO's TOP VINYL DJ in this CITY. Now who travels with this amount of records?? He does!! Biography:You've heard him on the ones and twos spinning soulful house on a Wednesday night at Fluid Lounge in downtown Toronto. Maybe you'll remember him hyping up the crowd at Epiphany in the city's west end on Thursdays playing hip hop and r & b. What about Rollaboogie at The Kool Haus, did you lace up your skates and roll through to jam to some old skool, funk and disco vibes? And the list goes on…We've all passed through at least one of his parties along the line but no one really knows what DJ Aristotle aka Jakes is really all about. I had the opportunity to sit down with the Toronto DJ to learn a little more about how he got started, what he's up to and where he's headed. Let's learn a little more about what makes this guy tick. Jacques Aristotle Haye, isn't new to DJing. His career in music has been over 18 years in the making. Back in grade nine or ten, DJ Aristotle got into spinning records with good friend Roy Atkins whose older brothers and friends made up the now-defunct Danger Zone Soundcrew. Aristotle would often pass Roy's place after school to hang out and obviously play music. This is where he got his first real taste of the DJ world. Back in 1985-86, with money saved from delivering newspapers in his Rexdale neighborhood and a little cash chipped in from the folks, Aristotle bought his first set of good turntables, 12s as their known, 1200 Technics. The crappy set of Pioneers he was attempting to make music on had absolutely no pitch and just weren't cutting it anymore. Coming from a musically inclined background Haye's father owned a set of turntables and would play lover's rock, blues even ska beats at functions and private parties. His love for and appreciation of good music began at a young age. He even remembers playing around with some of his dad's vinyls before getting into serious DJing, some of which are still a part of his collection that he still plays to this very day. DJ Aristotle’s first real gig was in '88 in Mississauga at the now R.I.P. Changes Nightclub where he played hip hop, r & b and reggae…But, before that it was house parties in the basement for friends and countless hours spent perfecting and developing his own sound and style. From the early days collecting house music was a part of his plan too, though not necessarily having the opportunity to spin it in clubs at first. That would soon change. In the late 80's, the house music phenomenon was more of an underground scene. "Songs like Good Life and Big Fun by Inner City, I bought it when it came out even if my first love was hip hop and r & b," he pipes in, making sure I understand that he isn't a DJ limited to one genre of music. In 1988, when house music really came into the limelight, Aristotle was already ahead of the game. He's proud of the diversity that he strives for in his playing style and genres: "I've had so many different nights, for so many different types of clientele," he added. How is it that after years of spinning he doesn't get tired of the same old thing, I wonder? The answer: "You have to collect everything so you don't get tired of what you do, it's like a nine to five job for me but at the same time it's fun." It's actually more like a 10pm to 3am way of life. "Music's the way of life, music is my everything, it can make me happy, it can make me sad, music's my all & all…music's my love, music's my life, it means the world to me." An opinion and heartfelt truth undoubtedly shared with many music lovers and DJs dedicated to their art. Over the years, Haye's record collect has grown exponentially as he continues to collect doubles even triples of records he already owns just in case he decides sometime to get a little creative and spin songs back to back or maybe if he's looking to trade a records or heaven forbid one of his vinyls gets scratched and starts skipping. As his record library continues to grow so does his admiration for all kinds of music, "Over the years, I've done all types of buying: retro, rock n' roll, whatever had a groove, had some soul to it." DJ Aristotle also has a decent set of funk, disco, rare grooves, UK soul, calypso, reggae even dance records. So, you may wonder, what he's up to lately and where he's heading? As of late, he's been focusing on getting his name out via the Internet and mixed CDs and he hopes in the very near future to get into producing his own tracks. Armed with years of experience and wisdom and a sincere love and appreciation for music, this goal isn't so out of reach. So, keep an eye out for the known Toronto DJ ... Aristotle

4 sure!! Scratch is an amazing old skool dj! However, his past old skook jam wasnt as great as ones he's done in the past. Scratch didnt even get up to the dj booth till like end of the jam.
If you like Scratch, check out DJ Grouch, he's wicked when it comes to scratching.
As for Spanish ones, DJ Bad Boy Steve kills the reggeaton sets, Carlitos Way is amazing with Salsa sets, and Cana Dulce is amazing as well.
Honestly guys, in my opinion, I like Starting From Scratch. He plays the wickedest old school ever.......but I love old school, so maybe Im on a class by myself?!
