The difference here in Toronto is that YOU have the option to choose to be in a gang other cities don’t have that option. So you choose to get you’re a** beat down to get in, then you choose to beat down another person cuz they are in “your area” or from another gang or because they are rocking a different colour then what you represent. You tell me that don’t sound dumb? Then you have the others that may respond oh it’s because I’m into hip hop. Hip Hop was never about that until the media and the business person came into play and was like “We can money off you’re A**.” Then all these clothing lines/designers started to preach that they are REPRESENTING HIP HOP and representing the CULTURE screw that, they are not representing anything, but themselves. Still people go out and invest $200 + to look like everyone else.

There is a Latin ghetto scene in TO (central, south America...from all countries)

There is a Jamaican ghetto scene in TO. Yes there is and you know it.

There is Asian ghetto scene in TO, there is Paki (Pakistan) ghetto, there is Canadian ghetto,.....

There is ghetto scene in TO form ALL OVER THE WORLD here in TO. Yes there are ppl who dress like this, majority teens (think they are cool and all). It’s the style and ppl will wear it and grow out of it (hopefully when they grow older).

So please stop arguing. Look around you, ghetto/thug look is there no matter where you from. You look ridicules attacking each other. Stop pointing fingers. You are all Latinos no matter what (south/central) country you are from.

Ofcourse ppl dress more ghetto here in Canada then back homes. In Europe they don’t walk around in their sweat pants on streets, they dress up (they do). And I am sure that where you guys are from ppl have more style and respect for their looks than here in Canada.

I mean here in TO we see people walk in their pajamas to the store, school, on the street. I HAVEN’T seen this back home. WE don’t walk in pajamas. Here you can see girls with nasty LONG toenails, all nail polished & HANGING of the sandals <----- talking about GHETTO.

First of all, I don't know what kind of salvadoreans these people that bashes them are talking about. It is true, there are some salvadoreans that I would gladly strangle; but so are some argentinians, colombians, cubans, mexicans, europeans etc, etc. At my workplace, there are some salvadoreans, and they are the most hard working, respectful and well educated people that I ever met. If there are some jerks out there that happen to be from El Salvador, well; there are some jerks from everywhere as well, so please don't put a whole country down just because of a few morons.

i think what origianlly what said about the ghetto scene here in TO is that its not only from central american are people ghetto but i would have 2 say 98% of latinos both from south and central are ghetto. By that i mean guys go around dressing like wanna be gangsters from which they probably picked up from movies like "blood in blood out". its just so different back in south america or europe where the majority dress at least normal. Here if notice in club pics all these guys are either making gang signs with their hands or just look damn stupid.

Thanks for clarifying. Personally, i dont really have anything against Salvadoreans, Im colombian and my husband is Salvadorean, so it would be pretty hypocrite of me to criticize. But i do agree that generalizations about cultures are just stupid. The point is that We need to live our countries, and many times can not do anything about it, just leave.

It's too bad that you aren't focussing on the positive qualities that human being in general have whether you are Latin or European. And from you comments you should be dealing with you own self esteem issues rather than focusing on how people should measure up to your standards. For some people it is about identifying or standing out from the crowds and there are many reasons, the most obvious whether it's positive or negative it is to get noticed. I don't always agree with what people wear but I don't judge them based on appearance but on personality. From my experience those who base their relationship on appearance 9/10 times have unsuccessful relationships. HERE WE GO AGAIN; I HAVE TO EDUCATE SOME PEOPLE ONCE AGAIN...

In LATIN AMERICAN countries there's: (blancos, indios, negros, MESTIZOS) Metizos are the mix of native indians(mayans, aztecs, incas, etc...) and Europeans; mostly Spaniards. I would prefer to be an INDIO. Why??? Simple. When we; as Indios were invaded by other cultures such as the europeans that came down in there Ships with the ESCORIA(low class citizens; thieves, prisoners, etc.) of europe. These particular people rape the native woman and killed our Indios. Three great civilizations that made a difference in this world. A good example of our accomplishments is the Calender; that was created by Indios. I prefer to be pure indio then a wannabe European because we are mix with the lowest blood of europe. What I mean is that not to many Latinos have Royal blood. We have ancestors that are the lowest. SO, IN CONCLUSION WE ARE ALL MESTIZOS NOT WHITE OR INDIOS A MIX OF BOTH.

My comment in regards to which country is better-none. We all have our beautiful sites and a distinctive culture that makes us unique and something to discover. Poverty exists everywhere. What you make of your country is up to you. You can trash it or promote it. Ghetto people, I don't agree with that style, however is a sense of expression and you have to feel good of what you are. If you choose to express yourself that way; Kudos to all of you. I choose not to have this look because I'm an Executive and I will be out of a job in a heart beat. Anyways , just remember that this is a society that people judge you on how you look and then, they get to know you; not the other way around. EDUCATE YOURSELFS AND REPRESENT THE CULTURE THE RIGHT WAY AND UNITED WE WILL MAKE IT. TAKE CARE EVERYONE.

Perfect example of the Latin people here in Toronto. Always fighting always bitching at eachother. Ecuadorian girls saying that Ecuador is prettier than El Salvador. Some dude sayin that "just because he wears baggy jeans and smokes weed and wears a red bandana" doesn't make him ghetto...(I love that one). Others telling Sabor Nuevo to "shove it up their ass". Yup. These are the days of our latin lives. That's why we are the most crappy community on the face of this earth. No unity at all. We are one of the top 10 largest communities in Canada yet, other communities like the Polish and the South Koreans have made triple progress than us.
