I think you should only have a big family if you can provide for each and every kid.
The problem too is that these fertility treatments provide high risk pregnancies and therefore the kids can come out with abnormalities. It's a gamble and unfair, specially when this women has other young kids.
I guess it's just personal preference. Some people want a huge family, others don't. How people with huge families (specially if up to 8 kids are all the same age!!) manage, is the crazy part.... to me. I tend to agree with you though.
