hey vanilla I'm just like u, I also don't like what xmas has become, to commercial but i do enjoy seen the close people to me with a big smile in their face when they open their gift...... to tell u the truth i never get what i really want but being with the familia is all that i need...... and i only do the decorating if someone does it with me if not, i don't bother.
xmas is not about you but the familia and having a happy time.
I like x-mas is one of my favorite holydays, not only for what it means but because it brings joy to our family. It is the only time when my whole family gets together. It s not becuse of the presents or the decorations. For me it s to remember the joy that Jesus brought to this world (if you are religious) , if not just the time of the year to spend it with your loved ones.
Well, if presents and decorations are your idea of Christmas, no wonder why you don't like the holidays!! If it represented a little more than that to you, perhaps you would find it a very gratifying time of the year :).
PS: Maybe you should read The Grinch (not that I am comparing you to him, just making reference to the part were all the Whos decide to celebrate Christmas with no presents and no trees)
3 years ago I've decided to stop celebrating x-mas. I still go to midnight mass with my family and all, but I refuse to buy presents, decorate my home also refuse to get presents. Call me scrooge but I hate the whole x-mas concept or any other holiday.
