The government has put it in the back burner, because it's not a pressing matter, but there are more efforts on the part of women's organization to make that a reality. It just needs more push. As for seeing more women running companies, I'm really surprised-- well, I shouldn't say surprised-- there are many things that go into running a company, but I see that happening more and more. I see more women, Latin women, owning businesses, and although we're starting small, I trust that women have the capacity to run businesses in an organized and progressive manner. You see organizations like Creando Puentes also, giving women the tools to become economically independent. And you see more Latin women having good jobs in Canada. So I do think we're headed that way. "

Why would anyone want to support our hard earned tax dollars on subsidizing daycare for people that make $70,000??  I support subsidizing for low to middle income earners but not everyone regardless of their income.

Ladies, today the world celebrates International Women's Day and the theme this year is "She's on a Role", celebrating all the accomplishments of women in many areas that were taboo for women before.

"This year's theme encourages Canadians to take a closer look at what has been accomplished to promote gender equality and build Canada into the country it is today, as well as celebrating the many women who continue to work towards these goals."

So I guess I want to ask you, as Latinas, what has been accomplished, you think? What more do we have to accomplish? Were do we start? What would we like to achieve?

Personally, I'd like to see more women, especially Latin women, involved in Politics, involved in the political and decision-making process in Canada. I'd also like for the government to really get going with the National Daycare program, so that more women with children have the opportunity to study and prepare themselves for better job opportunities without having to worry so much about who's taking care-- good care-- of their children.

Any thoughts?
