The car companys have until Dec 2? I think to come up with a plan and present it in order to get bailout money. Apparently it's ridiculous the amount of $$ the Management makes in these co.
I also learnt that one of the co. has opened up a manufacturing plant in Japan and they are still asking for a bailout.
I have been reading about, and I agree with your comments. They are in this mess for bad decisions made by the management and union leaders. I beleive that if they left these company go bankrupt , yes it will teach them a lesson but our economy is gonna be affected. Just in Toronto alone , there are many companies manufacturing the parts for Chrysler, GM and Ford. Many people will lose their job... I think it all depends on what they are going to change within the company...
Same thing with airlines and public transport. The unions will be/are the demise of these industries. I'm all for unions, BUT not when they have more power than their bosses, and have the companies by the balls... and only when they are there to PROTECT the workers, NOT to take advantage of the companies. Naive are the workers that think the unions (for the most part) are there to cover their asses, when they are nothing more than not-good-enough-to-hold-a-real-job bullies, and really there for nothing else but their own political agenda. (I've seen this first hand) Not to mention they are incredibly short sighted. Huge salaries for nothing more than 'general labour?, some being able to retire at 50-something with huge pension plans, and every benefit under the sun (without even having to finish elementary school!).... and you don't expect that to collapse at some point??? please! Let them sink, and teach them a lesson. The japaneses auto makers will give them their jobs back, with more reasonable rates, benefits, etc

First of all, how in hell big companies such GM, Chrysler and Ford they were unable to manage their forecast properly, I can't believe they were unble to afford fiancial experts to let them know.
The kicker was they the 3 CEO's were/are traveling in private jets...wich cost 20K everytime they ride it BUT they asking for our money for what ?
to keep traveling in private jets ? If they get our money will do make cheaper or even better cars ? Will they reinstall the job they cut ?
most likely they answer is no .....GM,Chrysler and Ford are claiming that Jap's cars are taking over the market.
Maybe it ouldn't be bad idea to let them sink...that way they will get rid of the unions they are a MAJOR tumor....in fact the Unions can bai them out...they have being making sh|tty cars (GM, Ford&Chrysler) and the japanese/korean came up with better cars and they never stepped out but they never did it.
Now what would happen if they let them sink...the japs and korean will take over the market...therefore...all the car industry wages will sink ....
They need to let the Unions go....they are costly..if you look the Europe Union the Unions are minimal or they dont even exist, the bigger the unions are the bigger cost for the companies therefore more expensive cars....
