La prensa deportiva chilena considera hoy que la selección nacional fue ayer en Quito una decepción total, pues jugó su peor partido de las eliminatorias mundialistas, fue derrotada y perdió cuatro jugadores para el encuentro del próximo miércoles frente a Argentina.
Los principales diarios de Santiago coinciden en que Chile fue una suma de errores en la capital ecuatoriana, tanto dentro como fuera de la cancha, en alusión esto último a errores atribuidos al técnico Marcelo Bielsa.
"Chile cae y pierde cuatro jugadores para duelo con Argentina", "Rojos de vergüenza", "Decepcionante", "Chile cae 1-0 y está obligado a lograr puntos frente a Argentina", señalan algunos de los titulares de la prensa chilena.
Según El Mercurio, Chile vivió en Quito, "la peor de sus pesadillas" y tras calificar de "horrible" el saldo de la expedición, puntualiza que el resultado fue "de entera justicia" y apunta que Bielsa "no se mostró claro en los cambios".
"Fallas gruesas en la zaga, errores evidentes desde la banca, cero peso ofensivo y un arbitraje discutible decantaron la peor actuación de Chile en el torneo", precisa El Mercurio.
Para el diario La Tercera, Chile "se perdió en la mitad del mundo" y aunque rescata que cumplida la mitad del torneo la "Roja" aún está en zona de clasificación, subraya que la de ayer fue una de sus actuaciones "más flojas" y acusa que el equipo "traicionó su estilo".
"Su esquema ultraofensivo, vertiginoso y por momentos impulsivo ala hora de atacar, se vio convertido en un manual de extrema defensa", apostilla.
El diario La Nación habla de "una bajísima presentación futbolística" y coincide en que ahora necesita "con urgencia" ganar en Santiago, "por primera vez" a la poderosa Argentina, además de coincidir en que el de ayer fue "el peor partido de la era Bielsa".
En tanto, Las Últimas Noticias concentra sus notas en el técnico Bielsa, destacando como "insólito" que el técnico dijera después del partido que había echado de menos a Jorge Valdivia, a quien tuvo en el banco de suplentes durante todo el encuentro.
También señala que el "Loco" batió un récord mundial porque incluso con un hombre menos, mantuvo en la cancha a tres delanteros y subraya que Ecuador "aprovechó la increíble seguidilla de errores chilenos, encabezados por la ingenua e intransable ambición ofensiva de su técnico.
"Que sueños abriga ahora contra Argentina? Qué miedo", concluye, mientras el popular La Cuarta, con ironía, asegura que "con Argentina nos sacamos los balazos" y coincide en que si bien el árbitro estuvo mal en algunos cobros y Bielsa se equivocó, "la Roja jugó uno de sus peores partidos".
"Y para más recacha (más encima) se nos viene Argentina.¡Ay Diosito!, concluye.
