MORE FREE iPhone GAMES:

Free iPhone Games: Aqua Forest, Catch the Egg, NeoSameGame

Lately weve seen a lot of apps lately being given away for free. This benefits all of us as we get to preview and experience new applications. Part of the reason developers do this is to have a sudden torrent of people download their apps to get it into the Top 25. Once they get some good ranking thats when they start charging for it again.

Today were going to check out three free games courtesy of Hudson, a video game developer that created classics such as Bomberman and Bonk. They are giving away Aqua Forest, Catch the Egg, and NeoSameGame all for FREE! These will be available till October 12th (Sunday) as part of their 2008 Tokyo Game Show.

Ive got my copies of all three and the quality of these games are excellent. The graphics are pretty decent and its nice to have some free games made by an actual video game company.

AQUA FOREST:

Play with realistic water with 'OctaveEngine', a new generation physics simulation software.
"Puzzle Mode has 50 puzzles created on the 'OctaveEngine'!"
Using the 'OctaveEngine', Free Mode allows you to easily touch natural phenomena like a painter.

CATCH THE EGG:

Outline

line_519.gif
Catch the eggs dropping from the sky!
Simple rules let anyone to play!
An incredibly interactive game! "Catch The Egg"!

Features of the Game

line_519.gif
Tilt the iPhone/iPod touch to change the camera angle.
Catch an egg by shaking the iPhone/iPod touch at just the right moment.
With these easy steps, you too can be an expert egg catcher!

NEO SAMEGAME

Outline

line_519.gif
Based on the classic 'SameGame' rules, 'NeoSameGame' adds new features that harness the qualities of the iPhone / iPod touch, and new rules for even higher scores!

I haven't tried any of these and they don't look too exciting. blankstare

For jailbroken iPhones/iTouch:

Winterboard - Alllows you to change themes. Give your itouch/iphone a totally different look.

Macman - It's Pacman and you play by tilting the screen like Labyrinth

Drunkology - Is an app that has drinking games and recipies for all drink mixes and Martini's

MXtube - Favorite one of all. Allows you to download Youtube videos so you can watch them without a wifi/internet connection. Really quick too. An average music video will download in 2 minutes or less

Nice!! Can you then upload to itunes?
Is it free (I guess it is since it's not in your "paid" list. Just checking)

MX tube is free from the jailbreak. There is another app that you can get from the jailbreak ones that allows you to save all your apps. I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure you can download it to your computer and not itunes.

NO.  And there are PLENTY of applications that are FREE to download too! w00t.gif

Lucky guy!  I passed by today several stores and was admiring the phone cry

BLEH - once you get it it is not such a HUGE deal... But, yes, to me is very useful.  I get to listen to music to/from work, play games at the same time, browse the net from time to time, and of course the main use - phone calls.

Can you use some sort of touch tone pen to get to the screens more precisely?

I don't think so... and in reality, you don't need to... The more you use it, the more accurate you get!  I think there is even an application that you can use to calculate your typing speed! blankstare.gif

He should be able to download directly to the iphone.
  • Just be sure to have iTunes up to date (not sure if up to date is even necesary, but just in case), open an iTunes account.
  • Make sure you have opened an iTunes account (will need to enter credit card info, but you won't be charged... UNLESS, you download applications/games that cost $.  No charge for FREE apps, of course.
  • Sync iTunes to iPhone (to ensure iPhone recognizes iTunes/Apple Store account)
  • Now you can download through the computer - or download directly to the iPhone.  To download on the iPhone, click on the "App Store" icon on the main screen, select the application/game and download away.

 Cheers.

I don't know if it's the same with iPhone, but with itouch, if you don't upgrade to 2.1 (is it?) you have no acces to app store
however, He should still be able to download onto itunes, no? and then transfer to his phone (?)

Other favourintes:

Yes, Dogo LABYRINTH is cool, didn't realize the iPhone was THAT sensitive to movement. Guide silver ball through the labyrith to it's end destination:

BeeCells:
This is not quite it, but the idea is the same... connect 6 or more coloured cells together to make them dissapear:

My current most favourite = AURORA FEINT:

Aurora Feint The Beginning is a new, free iPhone game. Its available at the Apple App Store.

Heres how the game is described: Aurora Feint can perhaps best described as Tetris/Columns/Bejewled meets a role playing game (RPG). If that makes no sense or sounds incredibly lame, thats just my words doing it injustice. Skip to the video below.

You score points in the game by aligning blocks with the same symbol (and color) in a row of at least three. Once you do that, the row will disappear and give you points. Just as with the other games mentioned above, if you let the blocks reach the top of the screen, its game over.
Thankfully the game is forgiving to new players and will let you keep going even if you mess up. It can take a few minutes to get into the swing of things. This is especially true considering the games use of the accelerometer as well as the touch screen. For example, if you tilt the screen to be in landscape mode, you can move the blocks differently than in the regular upright mode.

The most interesting part of the game may be that as you accumulate points you get to buy certain power-ups. This is where the RPG element comes in. As you accumulate enough points in the Mine (where you play the game), you can pick and choose which power-ups to get. You can also see your friends characters/profiles within the game if they allow you to."

Dammit, I don't have my touch with me today, I have a bunch of apps. I'll try to go on memory.
I got the tap tap revenge. Honestly don't like it too much.
laberinth is pretty cool.
Cannon something is really cool (I'll post the exact name later)
Toybot is good
One of the coolest -although usless- apps I got is iLightr. kinda like a zippo lighter. you flick the ipod and it opens.. same thing to close. The flame is touch/direction sensitive. It's just cool.
weatherbug is really good. The ONLY downside is that it's in farenheit.
hmmm..... A lot of other stuff... I'll post more later

BTW, does any one know how to get around shopping itunes in the US store as opposed to the canadian store? (besides having a US address)

I figure I better start a thread of the coolest things available out there for iPhone and iTouch products.  Feel free to add YOUR favourites!

I downloaded Tap Tap Revenge on the weekend and it's fun!  It's like the iPhone version of the Guitar Heroe.  Tap the notes with your fingers as they come down on the screen on the phone, tilt it, etc... I like it!

And you can play TWO players on the same iPhone

Best of all: They have a FREE edition... Mind you not many songs to choose from, but you get a good feeling whether or not you like the game. thumbsup.gif
