Sometimes I would get grounded or basically told I could go and then when she said I could go, then I wouldn't want to. I was a bit rebellious lol and I missed a couple of outings due to that....dumb kid
They did used to ground me for bad behaviour. Not letting me out was a killer but even worse was taking my phone away :( I loved my super duper bulky cell phone :(

I never got grounded nor hit (ok, maybe ONCE by my mom, when I was even too small to remember it well, and I THINK my dad, once. Was actually more like a graze, not even a hit)

I learned I could crack a broomstick with my back - ONE shot! That was the one and only time I can recall my dad discipliing me physically... I think el simple MIEDO de la "beta" que andaba colgada en la pared was enough for me to behave most often than not.

whats the worst your parents made you do? you know, when you were forbidden from certain activities, for example from watching television, attending a particular birthday party or taking part in a particular group event.
When i was younger, my mom and granma, and tias were pretty much into hitting.
As i got older, came to canada, and my mom realized that hitting didnt work on me anymore, then she resorted to grounding
Now that hurt, i was "castigada" during some good parties. I managed to sneak out to a few, but then i got grounded double.
As for my kids, i dont resort to hitting. As soon as they see me grinding my teeth, they know i mean business. I take stuff away from them (TV, DS, no swimming in the condo pool, etc.)
