Toronto Police are showing you a picture of a man who's suddenly become one of the city's most wanted. He's the rider cops suspect of committing 3 sexual assaults on the subway over the past year - and detectives believe he may have struck more often than that.
Reports of his activities first surfaced on June 6th, when a woman travelling on the Yonge line around 6:30pm was sexually assaulted onboard a train in the middle of rush hour. She called police who began an investigation.
That led to the discovery of a similar incident only two days earlier on the same stretch of the subway around the same time of day.
It didn't take long for them to find this man had been busy for a while. Their records show a complaint filed back on May 17, 2007, more than a year earlier, that has since also been tied to the same person. That one took place on the Yonge line, too, but during the morning commute, between 8:15 and 8:30am.
Cops spent days reviewing surveillance tape and have managed to get some shots of the man in the eye of those cameras. Now they want to know who he is and whether anyone else may have had an uncomfortable close encounter with this uneasy rider.
The picture police have released isn't very large and it's not terribly clear. But they hope it's enough of a clue that it could allow someone to come up with his name.
The suspect is described as:
Brown skin,
35-45,
Medium build,
Black wavy hair,
Round face,
Clean shaven
If his face rings a bell or if he assaulted you, call (416) 808-5304 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at (416) 222-TIPS.
