WOW!  Montreal was insane!  So much fun!  I didn't want the weekend to end cry

So here is my opinion on Montreal night life...from what I saw....Salsatheque was not very good at all in my opinion.  The D.J was okay at best.  The crowd was mixed but not very attractive and there is WAY too much lighting in that club.  I would not go back.  I totally see what Princessa means!!!

I went to La Boom and we left because it was a VERY young crowd on Friday.  Not sure why but for some strange reason it was mostly africans.  Nothing wrong with that but I like a mixed crowd.

Saturday night we had more luck.....Opera AMAZING.....Winston churchill (pub)...great!!  Thursdays was good too!  We even went to a great after hour poutine place but I can't remember the name of it.

There are clubs that fall under the "other" category and man those are AMAZING biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

We had a great time.  People in Montreal are soooooooooooooooo friendly and great!!!  Amazing trip overall and I can't wait to go back!!

I agree, the bars/clubs aren't any better than TO but the people definitely have less attitude than Toronto, which I find makes for a better party atmosphere.

Dogo, as for the 'joints,' I can't comment on that one, I only go to the straight ones.   wink

I know Dogo it's hard to find the right spot (club) of what you want as soon as you get in another city that you barely know. If you end up on Crescent street (for which I call that street, the wannabe street) you'll find deception and also
it must have been hard to find clubs with good 'joints'. But there are a lot of good clubs with good 'joints' for example, there is a Club called 'Blue Dogs' on St-Laurent between Rachel street and Mont-Royal). Also the people (crowd) is very social. It won't take long before you talk to a lot of people and jamming to good joints stuff, you night won't ending being in your little corner of the club all night long.

I got to admit that since 7 or 8 years...Montréal used to Represent but since lost a little bit it's underground music re****tion which was there for so many years especially the 80's and the 90's.
Insted of the Real Heads, now you get more wannabe superficial flashy people in clubs who most of the times doesn't know how to dance much. Things has change for a old school guy like me hitting 29 y/o. There used to be dance contest and freestyle that would get everybody in the dance floor showing their talent leading to a wave of people moving hard to the music. Even stuff like Foam Party are rare now. Now you have more wack and fake people standing still like a statue at the bar watching and looking around as if their heads were a security camera.

Different times and different styles.....I guess.

I said that I would pick Copacabanna cus I've heard good thing, yet I've never been so I never comment on it, but if I was to go with Chilenita to Montreal I would push this place....again regardless of other ppl's opinion. I've been wanting to visit this for so long & see the thype over it & until i experience it my self then I'll make my opinion.

Anyhow being a Torontanianmyself i know wat places I enjoy here & when I go away anywhere i try to pick places similar enough to my likes.

Salsathèque Ghetto !!!!!  Lots of my friends would laugh badly on this one. People who goes to Salsathèque normally put on casual stuff for guys and dress to impress for women (nice fashion dress). I know that it is rare to see someone in a suit with a tie... on that I'm agree with you. It reflect the down to earth and easy going attitude in Montréal. I'm glad that this city is not uptight and stiff like a statue. You put the music on the people are on the mood to dance right away.

On Cactus and Copacabana, I'm agree with your comment....even though at Copacabana I found that they put on to much 'bling bling hip hop' music and a little bit too much house 'wannabe' music and not the real hip hop.

In term of vibe Discoteca Punta Cana look a little bit like Copacabana but Discoteca Punta Cana as a lot more good dominican flavour con el merengue rapido y un poquito de reggaeton and also you won't find 'house wannabe boring music' there.

Princessa do U really what you're talking about ?????????????

Cactus is very safe. The crowd going there are 30 y/o and over.
Salsathèque, the crowd it's about 25 y/o and up.

Copacabana is where you get the youngest crowd between 18 and 25 y/o.

Being myself a montrealer latino and being many times in these clubs. I hope that you were joking in your comment above.

Food section: Montreal is known for the poutine, smoke meat and bagel. You can find poutine in almost any restaurant or fast food chains. Famous place for smoke meat...you MUST try Schwartzs Deli  on St-Laurent street ( www.schwartzsdeli.com ) and also bagels at Fairmount Bagel Bakery on 74Fairmount Ouest at the corner of St-Laurent street. ( www.fairmountbagel.com )

Hispanic food section: Reach metro station Jean-Talon and you'll find a huge selection of latino restaurant and shop (especially on St-Hubert street and also en la calle Bélanger al rincon de la calle St-Denis ) lots of peruvian restaurants and mexican restaurant en mayoria. mas info en ( www.montrealhispano.net ) y ( www.elchasquilatino.com ), http://www.latinovisiononline.com/fiestas.html
There are also some concerts coming up this month....look in the event section if you do intent to come this month.

I never been but heard good things.

X & I went to Salsateq, we had fun, it's kinda ugly the place but fun overall.

We also went to this other place but I can't member the name, it was more like baba's feeling ppl were from all over, little latinos & everyone seem to know how to dance like they were schooled. LOL
