ill be taking part of la via crucis at my new church ST JAMES "Santiago Del Apostol" which is located on jane and Annette in between jane station and dupont ...it is the new spanish parish aside from Guadalupe and juan buatista
lol just doing some promo ... and me and my family always eat FANESCA each year at this time...and yes i dont eat meat on those special days
anyways im excited cause i get to see old friends at the misa tomorrow ....plus im gonna be an apostol at the traditional cena we have every year done by padre juan trivino ..and everyone will be given a loaf of bread and grapes
Back home holy week is huge 1) because of the via crucis, and all the religious celebrations that take place and 2) because everyone goes to the beach.
I haven't gone to church to see the stations of the cross ceremonies here in Canada, and I'm planning to take Big Buffster this friday to see it, in Spanish. I used to hate going as a kid ('cause I had a big crowd phobia and always ended up sick), but I know it's important to experience, at least once in a while. Do you guys do this? Do you only go to mass? Do you only eat fish on Good Friday? Do you stick to tradition or do you do your own thing? Is there such thing as a Cena de Pascua?
God (RG, that is), so many questions...
Discuss.
My mom used to make my bro and I eat fish (good friday) because she is catholic. Meanwhile my dad (who doesn't believe in any form of GOd or religion) would make a point of eating a HUGE steak or a BIG MAC to prove how dumb he thought the whole thing was. Oddly enough my bro and I who were always pushed to follow catholic tradition don't follow any of that now. My brother is an atheist and so he doesn't do anything religious on Easter and niether do I. Well I do the easter hunt and baskets but thats not religious!! Easter Sunday my mom has a big dinner!

I havent gone to a Via Crucis in a long time, or to Good Friday mass for that matter. I dont go to "mass" per se, but i do go to church once a week to pray.
As for good friday, my family sticks to the sopa de mariscos (made by yours truly) and pescado frito (made by my tio)
I went to mass on Palm Sunday and I plan to go on Easter Sunday. Some Easter Sundays we've gotten together as a family but not every year. I think this year we're going to.

Do you guys do this? DO IT as in take part/act the Via Crusis, NO - - Attend it? YES, only if it happens to be on the day that I happen to assist to mass ... Haven't in a couple of years. I am going to hell!
Do you only go to mass? Sometimes - haven't been in a little while.
Do you only eat fish on Good Friday? If I remember, I avoid meat and poultry... tradition during Cuaresma.
Do you stick to tradition or do you do your own thing? To certain things, like not eating meat on Fridays during Lent - IF I remember. Speaking of which, are we (ECuas) not due for FANESCA? Quien me invita!
Is there such thing as a Cena de Pascua? Good Question... no se.

We used to do it. Now i don't. More because hubby hates masses, and going to church. But i keep telling that in spanish, there is so much more feeling in it than in boring english. But he won't budge. So i give up.
We do eat fish on fridays, and torejas and other yummy goodies that hubby WILL try when i go visit my mom this friday. Or he can just watch us eat and he can starve. I don't care.

BTW there is a Viacrusis or whatever u call that in college street.
Yeah, most Catholic churches have re-enactments (sp?) of some sort. The one I'll be going to is in Scarborough. Some are outdoors and some in. Back home they're all outdoors, and they go all the way, with actors and real crosses and ketchup and stuff.
