Ugh!.... No there isn't a TON of people that don't buy a car because they can't afford it! There ARE still used cars out there for $2500 or less, YOU KNOW?? Maybe they can't afford to maintain it (gas insurance, y todo eso) But those would be the same people that wouldn't buy THIS car... and most that don't have one probably don't want or need one anyway. Those who do, will have a chance to buy a car that is a little greener that doesn't cost an arm and a leg as hybrids do. Catch MYyyyy drift? furious.gif

Anyway... good luck with the bike lane thingy

@DOGO..there are TONS of peeps that don't have a car because they can't afford it.  Others who can't get credit.  Single moms...less fortunate...you catch my drift.  They could however afford this piece of crapo.  So you see a nightmare for the enviroment.  The LAST thing we need is more cars in this world.  What we need is safe bike lanes across the entire world so everyone can ride bikes and forget cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!crying.gif

Peace!!peace.gifpeace.gifpeace.gif

Hopefully this takes the industry in a different direction. Not only for ecological reasons but because nowadays a car is almost a necesity and to have to pay 20 to 30Gs for a halfass-entry-level car is BS. With today's technology I doubt a car should be costing what it costs nowadays (you can probably thank the unions for that)
Anyway, this is not a new idea. A cheap basic ("crapy") car for the masses has already been done before, and it turned out to be the biggest success, and the best selling car, in the history of the automotive industry, ever. VW Beetle anyone?

If everyone and their mother can afford a car what is the ecological advantageweirdface

If anything its a nightmarecrying.gif  At least that is what my hippy friends were sayingshrug.gif

because it gives 54 miles to the gallon?
And it wouldn't be so much that people that DON'T have a car NOW would run out and get one (because I think most people that don't have one either don't need one, or don't want one) but the people that might actually OPT to get one of these instead of having to fork out 15 times as much -or more- to get a hybrid

WHAT is a nightmare? The beetle?? TAKE THAT BACK!!!furious

It won't make it to the U.S. or Canada, I was reading in another article that it does not pass safety standards for any of the two countries...

It is an ugly looking car anyway...

Tata unveils worlds cheapest car

After months of rumors and tantalizing leaks Indian automaker Tata Motors has finally unveiled the Tata Nano its already legendary $2,500 (1-lakh)car. As expected, the car that Tata claims will change the face of not only the Indian car market, but the global auto industry will be a four door, five seat hatch, powered by a 30 HP Bosch 624 cc four stroke engine mounted out back and mated to a CVT. That makes the Nano the first time a 2-cylinder gasoline engine will be used in a car with a single balancer shaft. The Nanos also expected to get 54 US miles per gallon.

NEW DELHI: Keeping his promise, made four years ago, to deliver a peoples car, Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata unveiled on Thursday the Rs.1-lakh car christened Nano.

I thinkkkkkkkkkkkkk u can order them now
and it would take around 5 months to be deliverd
