I tip all the time when i get a drink in the bar.. if u are a good tipper the bartenders would serve u first... i learned that from my dad, and it's true

ok that is a good point. My mom worked at a factory making 7 50$ an hour packing some boxes which is a look harder and less rewarding than bartending .So I am giving away money to someone that is probably making more money than me because everything they get in tips is cash. I dont have a problem tipping , actually I too give 20% tip at restaurants and stuff , but I also do not like walking out of the club at the end of the night and seeing the bartender driving a nice celica and someone like me who has finished college driving a civic.

ok that is a good point. Latinos are cheap.  That's not big news.  They are horrible at tipping.

i agree with that , but that just works when you are at a table and the waitresses are bringing you the drinks . And I am ok with that . But bartenders , nahh , i got to the bar to get a drink 5 times , leave a tip 5 times and i will get nothing . And I know that because a friend of mine likes to do that everytime , actually he used to do it ,now he does like me , leaves a tip once and thats it.

If they are making minimum wage then they should not work as bartender and find a better job , and you and I know that at the end of the night they come out with enough money to surpass the so call minimum wage. If that wasn't true then you wouldn't see so many people wanting to be bartenders as a part time job.

Think about it , how many drinks they serve in an hour , maybe 40-50 ?? or even more , if everyone left a dollar or two for each drink then they will be making 40 $ an hour , plus their minimum 47 , although i think they have to share the tips too , they will still be making 30 $ at least cash . And this is for just serving drinks ,that is a lot more than your average guy that finished high school or college who is making around 12-20 an hour minus taxes.

Depends where it is also... if it's a local/corner bar pub... they won't likely be serving 40-50 drinks per hour, specially not on a weekday... probably not even on a weekend day. 

Now if we're talking about a RAAAMMMM PAAACCCKKEEDDDD () club in downtown - Sure servers can serve that many drinks and end up making TONS of cash.  But TO ME, if I order - say 7 beers in the course of my stay and I tip $1 per drink... I'm just giving away $7 - big deal.. I'll prettend I had another drink! LOL...

I don't totally disagree with your view on not needing to be too generous if I actually have to walk myself to the bar to get my own drink.  But that's why there are cute waitresses at them clubs!!!

loco y lo peor era que el tipo hablaba mejor ingles que yo de a lejos se notaba que era o bien nacido en canada y bien habia llegado aca en la primaria. No parecia enfermo ni nada.

En mi pais los que piden plata son normalmente viejitos , ninos , o mujeres con ninos que de lejos nisiquiera hablan el espanol bien , o se nota que si en verdad la necesitan. Alla los bobos que le dan 5 $ por limpiar una ventana

I usually dont give them any unless I see some physical impediment at the same time I hate it when they approach me, sometimes I just feel like telling them to get get a job or something like that... Lets face it, we latinos tend to be a bit more cautious in the way we spend our money. Most of us work really really hard for it.
I used to waiter at a really fancy restaurant in a hotel by the airport and I used to see this every day, huge difference when it came down to tipping habits.

Bartenders, tha'ts a whole different story!

By the way, bartenders make more money /hour then waiters do. I guess it all depends on the employer they work for

so what is your point?? people at wallmart , mc donals , etcetc make 7 $ an hour too and work harder than bartenders, . damn I used to make 9 $ an hour unloading trucks and let me tell you that is 100 times harder than serving drinks .

If you bring me my drink or food or whatever to my table then i dont have a problem but i have to go there and stay in the line up then it is totally up to me if i want to leave a tip. Its not my fault they are under pay , if they are then they should be looking for a different job , simple as that.

if you like giving money away to coat check , everytime you to get a drink , the person that hands you the towels in the washroom and everyperson that you see maybe you like throwing out your money . I am not cheap but i am smart when i tip
