Why are there ALWAYS problems getting artists into Canada. Why are Latinos the one with this problem for concerts? Snoop Dog can get a friggin Visa for god's sake and he has been charged with all kinds of stuff. When do promoters look into wether or not someone can get in...the night of the concert?????
thats b/c it IS snoop dogg. Snoops recognized worldwide, whereas these guys from La Pablabra arent really well known at all. Its harder to believe that a band from Cuba really has a sincere interest in performing and and then leaving Canada afterwards, than say Snoop coming in for a night to do a show.
I hear La Palabra's lead singer had a criminal record and that why he wanst let in. Dont ask me.... those are just rumors.
Well how come when it's a hip hop artist we know like a MONTH in advance that their criminal record kept them from performing. Why can't it be the same for Latin artists. SLOPPY promoters...that is why

mira! the problem is not the artists its the promoters and the people bringing them.
months before the event promoters have to get a bunch of paper work done to overpass customs and the border
WHY DONT THEY GET THAT PAER WORK DONE? well who knows? some promoters might not know about that, some are just lazi or dont want to do that since it might cost extra $$$
you cant blame something that happened at customs on the people/promoters/location/anything really. Customs is a totally seperate issue.

I guess the last "concert" of 2007 turned out to be the perfect crowning jewell to the pile of manure that was this year in terms of Latin events. So long as people continue to put money in the pockets of these unscrupulous promoters they will never have a reason to treat you with respect.

i wouldnt go all out and call it a fraud by promoters or anythin...VISA problems are VISA problems but that was kinda sad that the lsat concert of 07 didnt go out with a bnag!
good thing i went out for a nice dinner with wifey b4 the cincert so it wasnt a dissapointing night lol better luck in 2008, altough i think im concerteded out.
I didn't even know La palabra was coming, have never heard of them before, I got people over the holidays from New York, so we decided to take them to Palazzo, don't asked me why.... Anyway we get there and they tell us the Palabra is not going to make it but the price is $10 dollars.... we drove from Kitchener so we decided to stay....
When we were buyng our tickets there is a dude there explaining to us why la palabra is not there... it takes him like 15 minutes.... we don't care
Anyway we go into the club and is empty.... like 60 people... we go and sit and hope for good music at least...
This dude that was explaining why la palabra could not make it at the front doors appears put of no where on the stage and he starts telling everyone again. This man Genaro kept talking for like 15 minutes going on and on about why la palabra could not make it.... This was stupid if you ask me... everyone was looking at him like are you mental... you already explained this at the door...
Anyway this character kept on going all night about la palabra and why they didn't make it... he said everything in Spanish and then English.... All I could think off was that this dude was on drugs or something..... He made the event a total disaster.....

Don't say things that are not true Rebelde, why wouldn't give you back $10 if you would've ask me I would pull it out of my pocket and give it to you. We did not fraud nobody things happend Palabra is a Cuban-American, customs was just been difficult, we had all the paper work, the work permit etc. I will bring him back in the future along side ? I wouuld not reveal a name yet but I already have the artist. For all those people that want ther money back just go back to the location were tickets were purchase and they will return your Money.

You know very well that bringing artists the same day of concert has nothing to do with what really happened last night. Visas are issued way in advance not last minute. The promoters knew ahead of time and they didn't cancelled the show. They wanted people to show up at ten dollars and try to get them to stay by saying $10 is regular admission at any club so if you are here stay because the show still goes on. To me looks like a set up from start. The sad part is I heard a lot of white people that attended said bad things about our community. All these issues with all the concerts makes us the clients not believe in promoters no more. This is the reason why we keep on destroying our night life when it comes to clubs, bars and concerts. Instead of building a solid talent of promoters in the industry we keep on falling to the bottom of the barrell. Hopefully the stores don't get angry people asking for their money back. Better luck next time to the next brave person to do a concert and have the effects of all this on their events. People, get your act together and stop making things worst in the latin community. The police at Palazzo showed up because they called to complain about the fraud and a possible chaos. We always look bad because of this problems. We need to grow as a community.
Once again is fraud! I hate all this promoters. What's going on in the latin community. I went to the concert and no band. Maybe 60 people at the most and it was friend's of the promoters. I asked for the money back and they say call us at a later time. OMG!
