LOL, this is why I stop going to Chilean parties.... the food is excellent and the people are great... but this is all they talk about.. I mean come on.....

Politics and History..... after 1 hour or two of this, I am usually yawn ...........not just Chilean off course any other country too.........

It depends Yesi.  At Suba on Friday I am sure NOBODY was talking politics.  If you go to any of the parties CHILE LINDO or any of the soccer people have well the LAST thing you will hear is talk about politics.  If you go to a party full of Chilenos that are here in Canada for political reasons then YES you will hear talk about politics at one point or another.  They are not all the same.

True.... not everyone is the same... most of the ones I know talk politics hmm

Yeah had you been through what they (many Chileans here in T.O) have been through you would talk politics every day of your life.hmm

Maybe...

If they talked politics, I wasn't aware. I was too busy stuffing my face with all that food... biggrin
Seriously, though, they did talk politics. It was good 'cause, well, I do enjoy talking politics. It was funny 'cause there was an old guy defending Pinochet, but he was family, so the rest would just smile and try to ignore him.
And damn! Chileans can REALLY be patriotic: they all wore the chilean flag colours (even the kids), they all know what's going on in Chile and most of them speak perfect Spanish (or chilean Spanish, que no es lo mismo pero es igual), even the ones who were born here. I was truly impressed. thumbsup.gif

Funny see at the Chilean functions that I attend he would have been escorted out blankstare  even if he was someone's family memberblankstare

Actually you would never find ANYONE defending him blankstare

Or maybe I should say Chilean Independence Parties' Food rocks!!! headbang.gif

I tried for the first time:
1) Empanadas chilenas... Yum!
2) Pastel de Choclo... lick.gif
3) Pisco... thumbsup.gif

And I had some rocking desserts (Mill hojas, some merengue/dulce de leche thingy and some other stuff). It was all to DIE FOR.

I saw people dancing cuenca and that was fun. I also took some Chilean history lessons... Not ALL THAT fun, but it was interesting. shrug.gif

All in all I give it 10 delicious chilean cakes out of 10. number1.gif
