A July 19th decision by the Copyright Board of Canada could mean sharply higher prices for Canadians buying digital audio players and flash storage cards beginning in 2008.

The decision follows a January 31st proposal by the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC) that would apply new taxes to flash memory storage cards and to any digital audio or video device that uses flash memory or a hard drive for storage.
